Poles want the presidential strategy – according to a fresh poll by the Pollster investigation Institute. More than half of the respondents believe the president should have more power than the head of government. Only little than 40% of Poles think that it would be better if greater competences remained in the hands of the Prime Minister. According to the strategical communication expert, the support for the president is due to the "freshness" of the head of state, who was sworn in only a week ago.
Who should have greater executive power: the Prime Minister or the President? – this question was asked by the Polish Institute of investigation Pollster, commissioned by “Super Epxressu” in 1 of the last polls.
52% of respondents replied that greater power should belong to the President. A number of 38% indicated the Prime Minister. In this regard, 10 percent of the questions were not expressed.
The survey was carried out by the Pollster investigation Institute on 9-11 August 2025 on a typical example of 1006 adult Poles by the CAWI method. The standard mistake was +-3 percent.
What can the polls tell us? According to the ‘SE’ strategical communication expert, Dr. Sergius Thirdak, the president received a ‘fresh credit’ from the public as he was late sworn in, accompanied by a decline in assurance in the government.
At the same time, Dr. Trzenak estimated that it was possibly a good time to discuss the change of the constitution and order the system. "Whether we want the cancer system, as it is in Germany, or the presidential system. possibly this is besides the reason for the referendum on this issue. But we should not make systemic changes for a peculiar person, but have a clear goal: a functioning government, a functioning parliament and an efficient executive power," he stressed.
