On Sunday, October 13, residents of Gdańsk will elect their representatives to the territory Councils. The elections to the territory Councils will be held in 33 districts of the city. Citizens will vote for 766 candidates. The amount the territory council will receive depends straight on the number of residents and their activity in the elections. With attendance up to 14 percent for each individual checked in, there is PLN 12. If it exceeds 14 percent, the amount increases to 15 PLN and above 16 percent will scope 18 PLN. The final amount of the budget is crucial for the implementation of local projects specified as investment in infrastructure and improving the availability of public services.

Who can vote and how to prepare?

The upcoming elections require the residents to prepare properly. In order to vote, you should be registered for permanent residence in Gdańsk or join the permanent registry of voters.

I encourage everyone to go to elections and decide who from the territory will decide on budgets, give opinions on draft resolutions or local plans," says Agnieszka Owczak, president of the City Council of Gdańsk.

To vote, 2 conditions must be met: to be 18 years old and to be permanently resident in a given district.

Persons who are not yet entered in the electoral registry have until 11 October to complete the formalities. The check-in process is free and simple. This can be done in individual at the office or through a proxy, as well as via the website of the Ministry of Digital Affairs. On the another hand, those who are not allowed to registry have the chance to apply for a permanent vote. The Office has 5 days to issue a decision, so it is best to arrange the formalities by 8 October.

I want to be a real part of this neighborhood. Not only to criticize, but to take the problem of serving others and to make a real contribution to the improvement of my territory – says Łazorczyk.

Marcin Malicki, candidate from Ujeściska-Łostowice, draws attention to the dynamic improvement of its district.

I would like the vicinity to proceed to develop. I see fields where my socio-organisational experience can help," said Malicki.

Artur Laskowski from Wrzeszcz Dolny feels a strong request to engage in the life of the district.

I see things I want to make them look better. That's why I decided to get active in surviving better, good and friendly,” Laskowski says.

Aleksandr Cavalieri-Łukasiewicz, the candidate of Olive, draws attention to the protection of the district's heritage.

I want the Council to represent the people and their needs. Olives deserve protection of their heritage, greenery and unique character – says Cavalieri-Łukasiewicz.
