Green-Gorzian Diocese: End of Peregrination of Our woman of Gietrzwald

On Sunday, 6 September, in Zielona Góra, the peregrination of the image of Our woman of Gietrzwald after the diocese of Zielona Góra-Gorzowska ended. Since 27 August, the image has visited 10 towns.

Peregrination was part of preparations for the 150th anniversary of the apparitions in Gietrzwald next year.

The painting was visited by Jacobs, Głogów, Rzeczyca, Nowa Sól, Żagań, Kożuchów, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Babimost, Świebodzin and Zielona Góra. At the beginning of the peregrination in Jakubów and its completion in Zielona Góra, Bishop Tadeusz Lityński prayed with the faithful.

– This event attracted not only the inhabitants of the parish, in which there was a painting, but besides many faithful from all over our diocese," said Fr Robert Patro, manager of the Pastoral Department of the Bishop's Curia, who coordinated peregrination.

The last place to visit was the church of St Stanislaus Kostka in Zielona Góra. Bishop Lityński recalled that the message of the fire revelations remains valid.

– In 1877 in Gietrzwald, Mary's voice called for prayer of the Rosary in hard times. This voice is inactive up to date – he stressed.

As he pointed out, peregrination was an chance to halt at prayer and entrust Mary with individual experiences.

– I am glad that in this pilgrimage of our parent from Gietrzwałd after the diocese of Zielona Góra-gorzowska there is besides a halt in Zielona Góra and this minute of stopping for prayer to express our feelings, longings, pain, and possibly besides joy in front of the parent – said Bishop Lityński.

The bishop encouraged the faithful to pray the rosary. – If individual says the Rosary, let this prayer be strengthened. If not, it may be an chance to take it," he said.
