Sometimes it is that even if you get an unexpected confirmation, a amazing proof that you were right, it is not a happy fact. It does not delight, just as Gombrowicz's Gałkiewicz poesy of Słowacki did not delight, and Mickiewicz's verses did not drill.
To avoid stalling: it's about the study ASPI’s Critical Technology Tracker “The global race for future power”, which the planet announced today, March 2, 2023, agency Reuters.
ASPI is Australian Institute of strategical Policy, founded in 2001 as an independent, not associated with any political organization think tank. Its main nonsubjective is to supply the Australian government with information as well as proposals for action in the areas of defence, safety and strategical thought. As you can read on the ASPI website, the Australian Institute of strategical Policy "is liable for informing on strategical issues, generating fresh ideas for the government and exploiting strategical reasoning internationallyIt’s okay. ”
The ASPI’s Critical Technology Tracker study "The global race for future power" was commissioned and financed by the United States Department of State. The Institute itself has offices in both Canberra and Washington (DC).
According to the authors of the report, the investigation that has been conducted proves that Western democracies are losing global technological rivalry to China, including a race for breakthrough technological discoveries, as well as the ability to attract talent, which is crucial for the improvement and control of the most crucial technologies in the world, including those that are just born (as a consequence of basic research).

Research has shown that China has built the foundations to become a global technological and technological superpower, achieving an awesome advantage in critical areas and fresh technologies.
Among the technological fields the report's authors investigated, China holds a leading position in 37 out of 44, including in areas
- defence,
- space,
- robotics,
- Energy
- environment,
- biotechnology,
- artificial intelligence,
- advanced materials and
- key areas of quantum technology.
In any technological fields, all 10 leading investigation institutions in the planet are located in China, and collectively they make 9 times more technological work with advanced impact than the next countries in a given ranking (most frequently the USA).
Research shows that the Chinese Academy of Sciences ranks advanced (often on the first or second) in many of the 44 technological fields analysed.
China's lead is besides driven by the import of talents and cognition – one-fifth of their high-impact technological work is by researchers from the Five-Eyes countries.
The PRC’s advantage is the consequence purposeful plan and long-term policy planning, which has been repeatedly defined by Xi Jinping and his predecessors.

China stands out peculiarly in defence and space technologies, and their advancement in the field of hypersonic atomic missiles amazed American intelligence agencies in August 2021.
Data from the analysis show that in the last 5 years China has generated 48.49% of high-impact technological work in advanced aircraft engines, including hypersonics, in this field have 7 of the 10 leading investigation institutions in the world.
The USA ranks second in most of the 44 technological fields surveyed. The data summary shows that there is simply a large gap between China and the US and another countries, headed by India and the UK. South Korea, Germany, Australia, Italy and Japan, appear in advanced positions in many technological fields. Many, but not all.
Research results item the deficiency of cognition (democracy) about the importance and function of a critical technological ecosystem, as well as the current technological improvement trajectory, which poses a major threat to democratic countries.

The focus of cognition and investigation in China in strategical sectors has both short- and long-term implications for democratic countries.
In the long term, it may lead to China not only surpassing another countries in technological improvement in all sectors, but besides in future technologies that are just being born. If this situation persists, it can lead to a shift of global influence towards China, with all the consequences.
In the shorter term, this situation creates conditions in which China can dominate the global supply of any key technologies.
And finally, from myself: for respective years, I have been saying that we have no thought how China is developing, and moving distant from them only deepens our ignorance. The ignorance that hurts us present can be a threat to our future tomorrow.
China is not our threat. That threat is ourselves and our arrogance.
