Or did W. Putin deceive the people of Donbas?!

Before the alleged peculiar Military Operation began on 24 February 2022, which shortly evolved, in a literal sense, into a full-blooded war between Ukraine and Russia, – in spring 2014, there were events that seemed to have prevented the outbreak of this war. And even if it was not avoidable, it could have taken on a much smaller scale, as the political and military initiative in the spring of 2014 belonged to Russia, and Ukraine was much weaker than after 8 years of training its armed forces by the West and sociotechnical, anti-Russian brain processing mainly of the young generation of Ukrainians and saturating the armed forces Ukraine with NATO equipment and technologies involving Western instructors.

The events of spring 2014 are very crucial to realize the course of what has taken place since 24 February 2022 in terms not only of military, but besides of social, economical and political, or even geopolitical. The effects can't be predicted.

As of 11 May 2014, the date of the Donbasa referendum on the autonomy of the regions was set, which in fact preceded the desire to join the Russian Federation. The decisions of the Russian-speaking society of the Donbas regions were taken after an anti-constitutional coup in Kiev – possible thanks to the financial and "advisory" support of the US. This was accompanied by repression against the Russian-speaking population of south-eastern Ukraine by Nazi Ukrainian chauvinists. The tragic confirmation of the Nazi genocide was the brutal execution of more than 90 people in a trade union building in Odessa on 2 May 2014.

In this atmosphere, the president of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter visits Moscow, then besides the president of the OSCE.

Prelude attended by W. Putin and D. Burkhalter

Statements to the press and answers to journalists' questions after gathering with the president of Switzerland, President-in-Office of the OSCE Didier Burkhalter

Vladimir Putin: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!

First of all, I would like to welcome again our guest, the president of Switzerland, who is presently in the lead of the OSCE, and thank him for his attention to the issue of solving the crisis, the acute crisis in Ukraine. This is not indifferent to all of us; it is very disturbing.

I would like to stress again that Russia believes that in the crisis that broke out in Ukraine and is presently actively developing according to the most unfavourable scenario, those who organised the Kiev coup on 22-23 February and have not yet engaged in the disarmament of right-radical and nationalist elements.

Nevertheless, we must look for a way out of the current situation. This interests us all, and above all, of course Ukraine itself, the Ukrainian people themselves. Therefore, as I have already said, we are all curious in bringing the crisis to a resolution as shortly as possible, taking into account the interests of all Ukrainian citizens, wherever they live. The course of talks with the president has shown that our approaches to exiting the crisis are mostly convergent.

Russia urgently demands the Kiev authorities to immediately cease any military activities and criminal expeditions in south-eastern Ukraine. This way of resolving the interior political conflict is not a way to resolve all interior political disputes, but alternatively to deepen the division.

We welcome Mr Gubariev's release from prison in Kiev, but we are waiting for all political prisoners to be released. We believe that the most crucial thing is to establish a direct dialogue, direct, full dialog between today's Kiev authorities and representatives of south-eastern Ukraine, during which representatives of south-eastern Ukraine Ukraine could make certain that their rights in Ukraine were guaranteed.

We so ask representatives of south-eastern Ukraine, supporters of the federalisation of the country, to postpone the referendum scheduled for 11 May in order to make the essential conditions for this dialogue.

I want to emphasise that the presidential elections planned in Kiev are in themselves a step in the right direction, but they will not solve anything unless all Ukrainian citizens realize how their rights will be guaranteed after these presidential elections. Therefore, and so our position is in line with the President, we believe that the direct dialog between the Kiev authorities and representatives of south-eastern Ukraine is simply a key component of the agreement.

However, the condition for this dialog to begin is the unconditional cessation of all violence, both with the usage of armed forces, which is absolutely unacceptable in the modern planet and with the usage of illegal formations of armed extremist elements and forces.

Russia is ready to contribute to the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis and to actively influence the Geneva process.

Thank you for your attention.

The president (translated): Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!

First of all, I would like to point out that I very much appreciate the chance to have a discussion and dialog with the president of Russia.

I came here as the President-in-Office of the OSCE (Switzerland is chairing the OSCE this year), and that means that, in this capacity, I can assure our dual impartiality due to the fact that Switzerland is simply a neutral country.

On the another hand, the OSCE is an organisation where absolutely all stakeholders are represented, all of whom may have 1 or another influence on developments. This is, of course, primarily about Russia, Ukraine itself, but besides the United States and the 28 associate States of the European Union.

I would like to say a fewer words about the mission entrusted to the OSCE in solving this crisis and then besides about the proposals we are making.

As far as our imagination is concerned, we believe that there is absolutely no interest in bringing the situation to a crisis, the crisis in relations between East and West on the Ukrainian issue. At the same time, everyone has a immense interest, an interest in reaching a long-term, sustainable peaceful solution. And you gotta act both in the logic of deescalating tensions, as well as in the logic of reconstruction, restaurants.

The OSCE (the Organisation for safety and Cooperation in Europe) is the organisation that is actually liable for developing sustainable solutions and proposing them to the parties.

...

About stopping force and ceasefire.

It is very crucial that, at the highest level and at another levels, the political liable declare that they reject this force and declare that the force is stopped so that all military action, intimidation and provocation are stopped.
And it is very crucial that this appeal is now made by president Putin to postpone the referendum of 11 May in order to establish dialogue.
As regards disarmament to deescalate violence, we offer OSCE support for the adoption of the National Disarmament Plan in Ukraine and are ready to make an appropriate fund from which actions to implement this Disarmament Plan will be financed. With respect to establishing national dialogue, we propose that, in the first stage, before the elections, we start specified a dialogue, organise a series of "round tables" and another forms of dialog between decision-makers and politicians, representatives of political authorities of forces between the centre and the regions, within the majority regions, to decision towards national dialog in the next stage. Decentralisation, safety and safety issues must be at the heart of specified dialogue.

What echoes on the net sparked D. Burkhalter's visit to Moscow and his talks with W. Putin ?

On 7 May morning, the president of Switzerland flew to Moscow, on 7 May evening, the president of Russia demanded that the Donetsk people renounce their will and fight for independency – "called for postponement of the referendum". After the same meeting, “multiple movements” began – the withdrawal of troops from the border, the leaving of Novorostia, the leaving of Odessa and Kharkiv, the leaving of Donbas, the putting aside of Bolotov and Strielkov, replacing them with Płotnicki and Zacharchenka, and the shameful agreement in Minsk by which Putin friendlyly shook the hand of the butcher Poroshenko.

By the way, pay attention to the corners of Burkhalter's mouth and Putin's leg movement... It is known that the president of a country, which can not be found immediately on the map of Europe, behaves in the Kremlin much more confidently than the president of the largest country in the world. In this video you can see, if not fear, it's a strong nervousness, and despite the fact that the tv squad has professionally cut out all the most “uncomfortable” moments...

It is worth reading both the movie itself and the comments under the film

–————

Press conference after the meeting

After gathering Burkhalter, everyone noticed how sad and depressed he looked “ We all” and like a militant and cheerful, like a predatory bird, was his friend.

Did you pass it? Interfax reports that "Putin asked to postpone the referendum in south-eastern Ukraine. According to the president of Russia, this must be done in order to make the conditions essential for dialog with the Kiev authorities."

No, don't worry. This is not today's article, but an old article from 07.05.2014. But no wonder due to the fact that the good people of Kalina, Damia, Lisa, Frost and many others were freed from Russian captivity, decorated with beautiful tattoos in the spirit of ancient Germanic peoples specified as the black sun and the moving sun.

However, if you remember, in May 2014, Vladimir Vladimirovich, rather seriously, a fewer days and hours before the LNR and DNR vote, abruptly offered to postpone it. "Russian president Vladimir Putin after gathering with the president of the OSCE (President of Switzerland) Didier Burkhalter called on representatives of south-eastern Ukraine to postpone the referendum scheduled for May 11", says the report. According to the President, Moscow called on southeastern Ukraine to take this step “to make the essential conditions for dialogue” with the Kiev authorities.

The dialog could take place in the form of a circular table, said the president of Russia.” In a fresh conversation with the national Chancellor of the national Republic of Germany, Mrs Merkel suggested that this could be done in the form of a circular table for discussion. We support this proposal, we believe in it and we will advance its development.

"The circular table is simply a loose stool" – this saying has existed since the time of the perestroika. What was the dialog like? The dialog was... like a doughnut hole. What else was beyond the expression “Bombard Donbas for 8 years” from which now the Nazi monsters are cruelly mocking and which at the time caused more than 14,000 deaths? It's not working.

So why did they ask for a postponement of the referendum then, and why did they gotta do everything, even though the referendum had already taken place, without recognizing its results? It is said that the accountant, whoever he is, brought from Switzerland the large mystery of the terrible bourgeoisie and proudly laid it on the Kremlovski table as an invincible asset. After that, the Kremlin was forced to cancel him. Maybe, possibly not, I don't know the Kremlin's secret. However, it is known that the people of Donbass saw the destiny of Crimea, which as on the watch went to Russia and were delighted that they could do it again. But it didn't.

The author of these verses can be accused of “Oh, what a vengeful man he is.” So 8 years of bombing and 14,000 casualties are nothing. It doesn't seem to have worked.

This is not the time to remember.

Unfortunately, I inactive hatred mild amnesia. But why do I remember? It is precisely to realize that even if the leaders of the ruling bourgeois class are fighting for what they now gotta fight for, their endurance, reliability and consistency cannot be counted upon. all day, in all minute, they are ready to bend under force or temptation.

Anyone who takes these simple facts into account will realize how right Lenin was erstwhile he wrote in August 1917 that even erstwhile Kiereński and his soldiers beat Kornilov, they had to be defeated by Kornilov, but never supported Kiereński. On the contrary, the Bolsheviks were forced to exposure his weaknesses.

Is this simple Lenin thought understood?

"And now, my dear children and those who believe that our most beloved president with a moon face from morning to evening cares about the welfare of people and their salvation and is the most independent politician in the world, let me remind you of the events of spring 2014. How it all started:

What an angry statement: “Let them try...”. By the way, they tried and inactive try. And then it was April 2014 and 7 May 2014 an epochal gathering was held in Switzerland. Why epic? due to the fact that she wasn't much to talk about, but she's changed a lot. Putin immediately recognized the fresh government in Kiev, which he previously called only the junta, refused to support Yanukovych and publically stated that he was urging the people of the South East to reject the referendum. If individual forgets again, they may callback from this film:

Do you feel the speech change? How's the look? And how much did Putin's love of peace cost? The fact is, people are inactive dying in Donbasa and cities are being destroyed. But what a warrior! How promising it all started. Why Switzerland?! Since neutral Switzerland is the best country to set Russia a collective ultimatum and organize the brains of its leaders. Believe me, if it were not for the Russian authorities' fear of the 1917 replay (especially the fresh 17th just right) and the memories of the destiny of white emigration (and 1 of Putin's favourite writers is the white immigrant philosopher Iljin), it would long ago have given Russia and all of us away, as Yanukovich and Poroshenko gave Ukraine to the West. Therefore, they maneuver and lay between the desires of their own people and instructions from the West.

In general, lately all this reminds me of the relation between the Russian princes and the Orda. The Russian princes, especially the Moscow princes, were arrogant, rich, courageous, and even frequently rebelled against the Orda. Europeans were mostly outraged by the excessive pride of Moscow. Moreover, the Russian princes actively participated in disputes inside the Orda and supported those Khans who were more preferred by the princes in their opinion. But as shortly as the prince began to stand up, he was immediately summoned to the Orda or sent Khan ambassadors, and his brain was rapidly ordered. And now everything is precisely the same.

We regularly send donations to the West in the form of dollars, purchases of American securities and many others. And Prince Moscow, who began to go besides far in the spring of 2014, was called on the carpet, where his brain was set up and became silky and more or little obedient. At least externally. Of course, they did not take the description distant from him due to the fact that individual urgently had to collect tribute and keep order in the area, but they had a circumstantial explaining conversation with him. And he shall respect the limits set.”

It's a reminder of history.

Official “Western Assessments” of the Donbasa referendum

On 11 May 2014, Russian paramilitary units under the leadership of the FSB and the GRU of the Russian Federation, sent straight by the administration of the president of the Russian Federation, consisting of military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Russia paramilitary troops and armed with local separatists, conducted a falsified[6][7][8] referendum on the self-determination of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the Lugansk People's Republic (LRL) so as to be able to announce support for their efforts among the public[9].

According to authoritative figures, 89% of those voting in the DRL and 94% in the LPR voted in favour of state independency of the republics. The results of the referendum were widely contested. According to Ukraine, little than a 3rd of voters went to the vote, which took place in chaos and impossible to verify conditions[10]. According to Gazeta.ru supporters of the united Ukraine did not attend improvised referendums, the remainder could vote any number of times[11].

The questions raised in the referenda were unclear and ambiguous[9]. The Constitution and government of Ukraine supply for a change in the territorial structure of the country only through a Ukrainian-wide referendum[12]. Ukrainian authorities[13], USA[13][14], EU[15], PACE[16], OSCE[17] assessed the referendum as illegal, Russia declared “respect of referendum results”[18] but de jure did not recognise[19].

The DNR was self-proclaimed a period earlier, 7 April, and the LNR on 27 April. On 12 May both republics declared sovereignty and desire to make a confederation – fresh Russia

Legality of the referendum

The Constitution and government of Ukraine supply only for a Ukrainian referendum, a referendum on the change of territorial structure can only be convened by parliament[12].
The Ukrainian authorities have previously declared referendums in Donetsk and Lugansk illegal[13]. I. O. president of Ukraine Aleksander Turczynov said that referendums in the Donetsk and Luhansk circuits "will have no legal effect, only organizers are liable for their conduct". However, the authorities, in his opinion, will have a dialog in the east of Ukraine with those "who do not have blood on their hands and are prepared to legally defend their goals and beliefs[28]". The Central Election Commission of Ukraine stated that “the actions that were imitated on 11 May in the territories of certain Donetsk and Luhansk districts have nothing to do with the referendum process and have no legal effect.

International reaction

On May 12, 2014, in an interview with the paper “Kommeersant”, Russian president Dmitry Pieskov's press secretary said that Vladimir Putin would express his position towards the erstwhile referendums after learning about their authoritative results[39]. The president’s press service then reported that “in Moscow, they respect the will of the Donetsk and Luhansk constituency and turn out that applicable implementation of the referendum results will take place in a civilised way, without repeated violence, through dialog between representatives of Kiev, Donetsk and Luhansk. All mediation efforts, including through the OSCE, are welcome in the interest of specified dialogue[18].

The United States and the EU announced before the start of referendums that they did not recognise their results and warned against the anticipation of introducing a 3rd package of economical sanctions against the Russian Federation if, in connection with the vote on the east Ukraine's planned presidential election for May 25 was disrupted. According to U.S. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki, all regional referendums in Ukraine are illegal and ‘false’, and this step is ‘leading to divisions and unrest’[40].

The president of the OSCE, president of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter called the vote "illegal"[17].

Secretary-General of the nipponese government Yoshihide Suga stated that the referendum held on 11 May in the Donetsk and Luhansk circuits in Ukraine has no democratic legitimacy[41].

British abroad Minister William Hague said that the results of the Eurovision Song competition deserve more trust and importance than the results of the referendum in the Donetsk and Luhansk Circuits in Ukraine

Referendum in Donbas on May 11, 2014 – in the memories of direct participants.

Poet and publicist Anna Rewiakina on referendums from 11 and 12 May 2014 r. These days are mentioned by direct participants in events for which events 9 years ago became decisive in their lives.

On Sunday, May 11, 2014, a referendum was held in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, during which citizens of the Republic expressed their attitude towards supporting the sovereignty of the DPRK.

The question raised in the referendum was: ‘Do you support the act of state independency of the Donetsk People's Republic?’

Despite the struggles and provocations from Ukrainian troops, the voter turnout who came to the referendum was 74.87%. State sovereignty of the DRL supported 89.7% of voters.

"So the inhabitants of the Donetsk and Luhansk districts, despite any effort to disrupt the referendum by the self-appointed "power" in Kiev, chose independence. In the Donetsk region alone, 89% voted in favour. Now we are waiting for self-determination in Odski and Charkowski circuits" – he said on the social network at the time Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Rustam Temirgaliev.

Elena Nikitina in her diary book “Mimo” In the chapter “The Railways for Freedom” he writes that at 7 a.m., an hr before the elections opened, hundreds of people lined up.

The queues were huge, the people stood 3 or 4 people in a row, and the end of the line reached far beyond Nikita's election premises fence.

“Have you always enjoyed waiting in line? I do! It was in the 1 where my countrymen and I stood up for freedom. Everyone was in a large mood!” says Elena.

The inhabitants of Donetsk, Lugansk and Makiejka shared memories of the birth of republics. The most common words of their memories are pride, joy, hope! Yes, that's what happened! They hoped and believed. Many tears were shed, many blood was absorbed in the earth, but all this later.

...

Aleksander Parecki, manager of the Donetsk Philharmonic

On the eve of the referendum and the day it was held in Donbasa, there was an optimistic atmosphere that cannot be forgotten.

Although the vote took place against the background of the ATO announced by Ukraine (the alleged "anti-terrorism operation" – ed.) and the ongoing war in Slavian, people went to the polling stations as far as the holiday: with flowers, with Russian tricolours, but most importantly, with hope for better and with faith.

Of course, we were inspired by the result of the referendum in Crimea and we were convinced that the script of the events would be equally peaceful and joyful.

The years that have passed since the referendum have shown that in the desire for the relationship and unity of the Donbas people with Russia, no difficulties, aggression, persecution, blockades and another inhuman actions from Ukraine, whose policy confirms the legitimacy of our chosen path.

Władysław Rusanov, Deputy People's Council DRL

On 11 May 2014, he remained in my memory primarily as an event that united and united the full Donetsk people. More specifically, on 11 May and the referendum became the apogee of this unity, which began at March rallies and continued on barricades close the peripheral state administration of Donetsk.

In those days, you truly felt part of a immense stream of people. Not figuratively, not due to words, but on any spiritual and mystical level.

The thoughts, desires, and hopes of individual people merged into 1 immense field of information and became the thoughts, desires and hopes of all Donbas.

...

Irina Gorban, writer, associate of the Union of Russian Writers

When a man believes in the triumph of justice, he will decision the mountains to fulfill his dreams. During the referendum, the people of my city lived 1 dream – to be part of Russia. And then there was this small thing at the time – vote and we were together.

At the polling place, the apple was nowhere to fall. Joyful and excited residents of Makiejewa voted for the future of their children. I was overwhelmed with feelings. It seemed that the first step towards unity was taken. There's only a small left. But the war was ahead of us.

Igor Faramazian, journalist

First, the weather on May 11, 2004 was beautiful. And it was kind of Christmas. The Christmas spirit was in the air. There were quite a few people in the polling stations. And that multiplicity was amazing. It's not like anyone's ordered a referendum in advance.

There was practically no time for organization. At the same time, people responded to the call of unknown people yesterday and came to express their will. It's not jumping after Majdan to mantra dolls. This is simply a real bottom-up self-organization. This is not the demolition of a coup. It is simply a peaceful and affirmative way to talk on the most pressing issue. As they say, feel the difference.

And I was struck by consciousness. The consciousness of choice. After all, no 1 asked Donbas in Ukraine what he wanted. Does he want to integrate into Europe, or does he inactive see himself in a common space with Russia? And in the 2014 referendum, people actually voted for Russia.

Yes, the question was about the independency of the republic. But everyone saw it as just a first step home to our nation, to Russia. And this completely coincided with the results of the 1994 Donbas referendum. This means that since the collapse of the united country in 1991 nothing has changed in the worldview of the inhabitants of Donetsk.

They, despite the progressive Ukrainianization, inactive considered themselves part of a large Russian intellectual – cultural, ideological and spiritual space.

Therefore, if individual starts a conversation that Donbas is not Russian adequate or that he is not willing to join Russia, he is wrong. Only individual who doesn't know Donbas can say that.

Leonard Swidowskow, president of the LNR Journalists Union

May 2014 events cannot be forgotten! It's an extraordinary height. Feelings of joy and bitterness. Inspiration! And disappointment...

On May 1, Russian tv channels were restored. Like a family, after a long split, we enjoyed the Wremia programme, NTV and Rossia 24 programs. But the next day was a real tragedy. Fire in Odessa. Everyone was watching live. On the Internet.

On 3 May, after the ceremony service and mourning service for the dead people of Odessa, the first shots were fired in Lugansk. It is the National Guard, brought from all Ukrainian units, shot a picket in front of the walls of the territory military registration and collection office. In the evening of the same day there was a plane flying over the city. We inactive didn't believe they'd decide to bomb us.

It was then prohibited to organize parades and celebrations on triumph Day. But who in Lugansk has already noticed specified prohibitions?! It is known that on May 9, 2014, there were many more people on the streets of the city than there were in “a time of peace”. So – he was the most humanitarian of all I have always seen. Not artificially organized. For people.
But tonight – terrible news from Mariupola... There was no doubt. By shooting and smoking, the Ukrainian state destroyed itself for us. We had a referendum ahead of us. And on May 11, we had to decide our fate. Announce a republic.

The preparations were difficult. The president of regional state administration called the officials. I don't even want to give her a name today. She was the 1 who warned government agency staff: "You will be liable for organising and participating in the referendum in accordance with the laws of war..."

On the another hand, officials on her command were to call on public sector workers (doctors, teachers, social workers and cultural workers) and ban them from participating in the referendum.

There were besides problems with organising the work of territory commissions. Schools, clubs, institutions. But all the difficulties have been overcome.

On May 11, all polling stations were open. Around 9 a.m., the full household voted in the building of the Lugansk Coal Association. I spent most of my election day at my home school. This circuit has been assigned to me as deputy regional seymik.

As a journalist, editor-in-chief of socio-political stations, I coordinated the work of movie crews throughout the Luhan region. Stachanov, Lutugino, Newajdar, Starobielsk...

There were plenty of people! And there was enthusiasm. And there was inspiration. And high. The feelings were overwhelming. But the most crucial of them is joy and pride. Out of town. For my people. And there was besides religion that everything would work out!

Natalia Czerniecka, publisher

May 11th is simply a milestone for me, starting a new, completely different life. I live on the 9th floor. specified a place of residence (“I sit high, I look far”) has its disadvantages and advantages. However, I want to share my observations “from my height” on what happened on this historical day.

Having already had respective choices and referendums in my life, I, as a law-abiding citizen (citizen of Donetsk – this is important), decided to drive in the afternoon and issue a newsletter printed on a simple printer in the A4 format. However, erstwhile I looked at the street from no note, I was amazed in the full sense of the word.

You can't forget. Thin streams from all street, from all home and entrance people (both old and young) continued to arrive at the school's election place.

Seeing specified a civic impulse, I put aside all the crucial matters and, on my way to the street, I caught on to these "streams" which shortly (from the end of May to the present) proved to be an invincible metallic of resistance. Getting close to school was impossible! People stood for an hr and a half to registry and be able to vote.

I remember 1 minute in particular. I'm in line. A fewer minutes later, 4 young boys approached in camouflage and with guns. The crowd was quiet (people were not yet accustomed to seeing armed people so close). The boys wait patiently in line. individual in front: “Guys, skip the line. We'll wait. Thank you!”

In the crowd in which the different representatives of the Donetsk people gathered, no 1 said a word against it (it's nonsense: don't feed our people with bread – just let them be in line). These were Donbas' first moments of unity. And how many more were there, we found out later...
