Deserters and polytrud shouting “for Stalin!”. Russians in Ukraine with low morale

Although the word polytruk in Polish does not accidentally have pejorative meaning, in Russia it has been associated with the Armed Forces for generations. The Russian army is 1 of the fewer in the planet where political officers have been retained. Even the scope of tasks of the polytruds remained a legacy from the early Red Army, and their function increased in the course of the fighting in Ukraine.
