It is unbelievable how many half-truths and simple lies are in the public domain about those events and about those times—and how large the scale of "information" is. For example, Jan Żaryn claims that Andrzej Witkowski – whom Żaryn, as he says, respects, but does not agree with his assessment of Chrostowski – wrongly accused the driver of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko. Why? due to the fact that according to Zarin, the second was persecuted by SB, as evidenced by the fact that SB burned down his apartment. The fact is different. Fr Jerzy Popieluszko lost his trust in Chrostowski and spoke of it in respective groups that he wanted to part with him. Situated around Father George, the agent was aware of this intention. What happens next? A period before the abduction and execution of Chaplain Solidarity, Chrostowski's flat is on fire. At the time, it was interpreted in specified a way that Chrostowski was persecuted. As a result, Father George does not part with him, but on the contrary, he takes him to his rectory. From that minute on, Chrostowski is at the priest Jerzy's home all the time, until the abduction... After years, however, prosecutor Witkowski reaches the Fire Department protocol, which put out Chrostowski's apartment. It turns out that the flat was empty – there was virtually nothing in it. Witnesses to which prosecutor Witkowski has reached confirm: on the evening before Chrostowski was burned, he raised everything – specified an amazing “intuition”... With this simple procedure – burning an empty flat – SB not only thwarted the intention of Father Jerzy to throw out Chrostowski, but caused the other action: the location of Chrostowski at the priest I'm a regular George, due to the fact that how do you get free of the man whose flat was burned down? Jan Żaryn may not have known this once, but he already knows for a fewer years – I made certain he knew it myself – why, then, if he knows it, he inactive tells the same stories as years ago? Lots of questions, no answers. As for Chrostowski himself, we met respective times.
That was in 2005. With the tv crew we managed to get to the head of the safety office of the Palace of Culture and discipline – to Waldemar Chrostowski. It wasn't easy. I sought a gathering for respective months – unsuccessfully. Chrostowski has done absolutely everything to guarantee that this does not happen. Finally, utilizing the runway, unsolicited, we got into the office of Father George's “friend”. We were greeted by Waldemar Chrostowski, the expected “friend” of Fr Jerzy, who pushed us into the ground and even though we knew about him, he amazed us to any extent. For an hour, with the camera on, he told us to get out, and I guess just the fact that we were recording everything saved us from a force solution. Chrostowski yet gave up: “K..., you have 1 question. So, what do you want to know?” – Mr. Waldemar, tell us how it happened that you beat up a militiaman twice in the state of war, including erstwhile so seriously that he was in the hospital, and yet you did not go to prison? – I asked.
Chrostowski made a face, as if he swallowed a hornet, but immediately afterwards he replied: “It was clearly considered that the right was on my side.” Actually, that was enough. I've had enough. Chrostowski said almost nothing, but he actually said everything. I didn't eat all the brains, but I knew adequate to realize that I just heard the world's biggest bullshit. And I knew this due to the fact that everyone who knew or remembered what martial law was – I knew it and remembered it. The beating of a militiaman at the time, and it was so serious that it ended with hospitalization, for the perpetrator it must have produced 2 tragic effects: first the rematch of fellow massacred militiamen – certain as an amen in the way – and if any miracle of the perpetrator of the beating had survived, he would not have left prison for years and most likely not by his own strength. The Chrostowski version, therefore, according to which he was released immediately after being stopped, without any consequences, due to the fact that the right was on his side, was so abstract that it fundamentally exhausted the subject.
The second gathering with Waldemar Chrostowski took place 3 years later – in court. This was after, as a consequence of the “Marszałkowa” affair, the ABW made an “invasion” on my apartments and took all the papers from me – including those concerning Chrostowski – while I myself was harassed by Bronisław Komorowski and his colleagues from the WSI, after 3 months of hospitalization after a suicide attempt, only left the hospital. My case with Chrostowski yet went to the ultimate Court, which stated: the court is incapable to measure what is the fact about Waldemar Chrostowski, due to the fact that the court was denied the anticipation of reading his papers stored in the alleged reserved collection. In another words, the highest institution in Poland, which is competent to find what is actual and what is not, the ultimate Court, was denied the chance to read the papers of Waldemar Chrostowski, the average – not average – driver. As a result, the ultimate Court stated: Wojciech Sumliński conducted a long-standing journalistic investigation in a reliable, accurate, honest and without a pursuit of sensationalism, but since in civilian mode – unlike criminal procedures – it is the defendant's work to prove the correctness of his claims, and the suspect did not do so, the court orders the apology of Waldemar Chrostowski. At the same time, the court states that it does not know what the fact is about Waldemar Chrostowski and whether he was or was not an associate of the safety Service – the answer will bring time. As a result, even Gazeta Wyborcza had to write: "a message favorable to Chrostowski, a justification for Sumliński". And so ended the only—of the fewer twelve criminal and civilian cases which I was dealt with—the only trial in my life that I lost. Whether and how I have lost, justice for yourselves. And truly about Waldemar Chrostowski, whose ceremony Mass will be held present in the church which is the place of service of the priest Jerzy Popiełuszko, Martyr, whom Waldemar Chrostowski betrayed – without uncertainty it has this dimension of the symbol of our times – we will gotta wait. This – as the ultimate Court expressed hope – will bring time...
