The Dalai Lama XIV ends speculation on her successor. “No 1 else has the right to interfere”

A fewer days before his 90th birthday, the Tibetan spiritual leader ended the speculation so far, saying that the search for another Dalai Lama should be carried out “according to tradition”. It signalled that China – which claims that the Dalai Lama's reincarnation "must be approved by the central government" – should stay distant from this process.
