This year's celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Allied landing in Normandy (6 June 1944) was evidently held under the sign of current politics. In fact, individual who does not know past (and more of this) may have had the impression that it is celebrations of the fight of “democracy” against “tyranny”, with this “tyranny” being of course Russia (ZSRR).
The actual historical context was lost in the politically correct gibberish of both Western politicians and the guest of “honor”, i.e. Volodymyr Zelensky. Not to be blunt. Host of the ceremony, president of France Emmanuel Macron, he said: “In the face of the return of war on our continent, erstwhile everything the Allies have fought for erstwhile any want to change borders and change history, let us be worthy of those who have landed here. Your presence, Mr. president of Ukraine, reminds me of that. I thank the Ukrainian people for their courage and desire for freedom. We are, we will not weaken.”
In turn Joe Biden He said: “You saved the world. We just gotta defend him. We inactive should be strong in the face of tyranny. To proceed the conflict for freedom, citizens of democracy must compromise their comfort. Those who fought here saved the world. Let us stand on the level they have set." Of course, Volodymyr Zelenski, who said that "Allies defended the freedom of Europe, Ukrainians are doing it now".
He did not add that these Allies in 1944 fought for this freedom together with UPA and possibly besides SS Galizien, or with formations whose tradition is now the foundation of Ukraine's "historical policy", but everything ahead. It sounds all the more surreal that Zelenski's grandpa was a Red Army soldier who did not be in the statements of politicians that day. But it seemed that Adolf Hitler had disappeared, due to the fact that the word “tyran” was to be associated not with Germany, but with Russia. And who wants to change history? – you could ask Mr. Macron. But what were he and mediocre Joe Biden expected to say? That this “freedom” against the “tyrannical” West defended with Stalin? How does that sound?
We have the media, of course, in this narrative. I read the comment Paweł Łepkowski in the historical addition, the diary “Rzeczpospolita” and I rub my eyes. The title of this text is: “The day that began the fall of the Reich”. Does the author truly believe that only June 6, 1944, “the fall of the Reich began”? Any serious, besides Anglo-Saxon historians who are not yet missing will tell him and him alike that the fall of the 3rd Reich began on 2 February 1943 erstwhile it capitulated the 6th German Army under Stalingrad. It was the turning point of planet War II and the beginning of Hitler's end. Not only are Russian historians saying this, but besides Western historians, including the unfavorable Putin Antony BeevorOr possibly the best expert on the problem Prof. Geoffrey Roberts. The landing of the Allied in Normandy, despite the pressures of Stalin, who demanded the beginning of the second front as early as the end of 1941, occurred at a time erstwhile the war with Germany, the Red Army forces, was already won. Even in December 1944, England and the US leaders asked Stalin to accelerate the offensive from the Vistula River due to the fact that their armies suffered, in their opinion, besides much losses in the Ardens. And Stalin agreed.
History is besides serious to leave it to historians – said 1 of the politicians of the Law and Justice organization announcing the era of Polish historical policy. After this "golden thought" is implemented in practice, not only should we, as you can see, correct this conviction as follows: past is besides serious to be entrusted to politicians. They can be so ‘creative’ that even apparent things seem to lie for the purposes of the current policy. And so it was during D-Day celebrations in Normandy. Brave Western Allies fought against “tyranny” (Russia) alongside their allies in the East – the bander and “warmen” with SS Galizien.
