The Polish right can't live without negative emotions. No anger, no resentment, no sense of superiority, no heightening. For this year’s summer, then, she should not complain, for she provides bad emotions even in excess. 2 of the biggest sources of right-wing excitement proved to be: the challenge of protecting the western border of Poland against illegal immigration (predictably) and the exhibition of the Gdańsk Museum in cooperation with, among others, the Museum of planet War II in Gdańsk entitled “Our Boys” (as an additional “attraction”).
At the western border of Poland, Germany began consistently to implement the PiS migration doctrine, which nevertheless did not meet the designation of the politicians of the Jarosław Kaczyński Party. This doctrine is not written by the Law and Justice. It is simply a reasonable rule of global law to assist refugees, which assumes that a exile should apply for protection in the first safe country to which he has reached and then stay in that country until the application is examined and his legal position established. The Law and Justice has, however, gladly written this rule on the banners as the migration crisis on the east border of our country, this 1 with Belarus, unfolded. Right-wing politicians stressed the unwarranted transition of these refugees/immigrants to the Polish side, looking at the first safe country to which they had reached Belarus. To any extent, this was correct due to the fact that there are no Taliban in Belarus from which refugees from Afghanistan flee; there is no civilian war from which refugees from Syria fled; there are no armed groups of average murderers who have made, for example, a failed state from Somalia. Of course: beating, robbing, hounding and breaking the limbs of these people (pushed to the Polish border as part of the apparent hybrid war between Putin and Lukashenko regimes against us) by the Belarusian apparatus of force put – in a delicate way – a question mark at the thesis about Belarus as a "safe" country for them, but it is already besides detailed an analysis for the average policy of the right.
While in power, the Law and Justice Office successfully attempted to penetrate the Polish border in the east, he was not peculiarly afraid due to the fact that he knew that these people treated Poland as a transit region and after 2 or 3 days they would penetrate Germany. Doing this kind of "favour" to Germans even in the written circles most likely liked it. This is the only way to explain why the PiS could not, and Tusk could actually build a sealed wall on the east border. All the more reason why the Law and Justice Government in the individual of Deputy Minister Wawrzyka sold Schengen visas to the right and left. It was just assumed that all these foreigners would penetrate Germany and we saw so many.
Then, suddenly, Berlin began to apply the same rule that the Law and Justice organization preached on the east border, and decided that the immigrant had come to Germany through Poland to apply for asylum. After all, Poland – as I realize it, we do not want to have any doubts about it – is simply a country safe for refugees from all countries of the planet and doubts specified as in the case of Belarus do not concern us (?).
However, PiS was highly silent about the fact that Germany began to prosecute the migration policy suggested by PiS itself and that it hit Poland with a natural ricochet. Instead, anti-immigrant racism and chauvinism, which are increasingly selling in Poland (unfortunately, racism is simply a majority attitude in Poland today), with a classical of hateful politics, or anti-German prejudices. Admittedly, this situation is the dream of all right-winger in Poland. Migration crisis, fueling fears of blacks, Muslims, and even Catholic Latinos of a somewhat savory complexion, for which Germans can be blamed, like the slaughter of Wola! It is no longer "political gold", it is "political platinum". These are the framework conditions in which the Law and Justice Office can – with the hands of a proven consumer of taxpayer's money, Robert Bąkiewicz – make an average militant called the "border defence movement" and get for its existence and operation support of more than 50% of Polish society.
As if all this was not enough, the hatred of Germans can be given a proven historical context thanks to the Gdańsk exhibition. “Our boys” tells of the destiny of Pomeranian and Kashubians, who during the German Nazi business were incorporated into the Wehrmacht and served in an business and enemy uniform. Most forcedly or under the threat of draconian punishments, but of course from case to case besides sometimes voluntarily, e.g. from youthful folly, human greed, or from (so typical of the right) opportunism. It's a communicative based on undisputed and undisputedly sad facts. However, it is an crucial part of the past of the region, and during the period of the Polish People's Republic it was an chance to discriminate against Kashubians and destruct their culture by communist dictatorship.
The right reacted hysterically to the exhibition, and above all to its title. Reason? The people who put on the enemy uniform automatically stopped being “our boys”. Yes, you can. This Polish right already has well-trained in the context of e.g. the crime in Jedwabny, where local residents smoking – from German inspiration – their judaic neighbors in the barn were not Poles or “our boys”, but “some mob”, “in no way unrepresentative to the general people.” Similarly, the cashier was not Polish, he was a cashier, a man of an economical nationality.
Except it's not that simple. The shame of taking arms and fighting on the enemy side against Poland does not work out and does not change the fact that the man who does this is Polish. The title of the exhibition provokes (maybe and indeed unnecessary – Bój knows that we already have far besides many reasons to stand against each another on barricades and this title unnecessarily added another premise to Polish-Polish hatred), but for me it is besides an expression of bitterness towards fate, and sometimes and towards the election of these people in those terrible times. They were our boys, but they stood where they should never be. Like the people of Jedwabny, like the moneymakers, like the poplars in the Stalinist period, like the ZOMO in 1970 and 1981... The fact that they were ours makes this communicative hurt more than if it were Müller, Schmidt or von Lichtenberger. It hurts more, so it's crucial for the context of telling these stories.
Besides, mainly people outside the region took part in the criticism of the exhibition. Yes, the Pomeranian PiS besides organized its manifestation, most likely by order of the Warsaw office and possibly mainly by the Pomorzan inflow forces. However, the human destiny shown by the exhibition is primarily part of regional history, to any degree the interior affairs of Pomeranian and Kashubian. Yes, freedom of speech gives all resident of the capital, Poznań, Łódź, Krakow or Lublin the right to speak, evaluate, express his view. But it is yet our exhibition, about our ancestors, about our history, about our identity stain. We have the right and the work to face this story, even if the right – as always – stands in the position of sweeping under the carpet all situations that do not fit her communicative about always heroic, morally pristine and martyrdom.
Regardless, the German “attack” this summertime turned out to be a two-track and enabled the right-wings to perfectly bind the Democratic government with Germany. Donald Tusk's office – known, treacherous by nature – “allows” Germans smuggle dangerous immigrants to Poland, and in addition continues to “promote” German historical narratives (as if the fact of enlisting non-Germans to the Wehrmacht in any way removed work for crimes and the fire from the highest authorities and from the full German state).
The attitude of the Polish right towards the Germans should no longer be called "germanophobia". But phobia is fear. Meanwhile, the Polish right hand of the Germans long ago ceased to fear. On the contrary, she regrets that her militias and supporters can only attack these migrants from distant countries on the streets of Polish cities. Immigrants are in fact only an erection of the most desirable object of aggression, or Germans. After Poland's accession to the EU, we introduced a transitional period for the acquisition of real property so that Germany would not come here and buy homes. erstwhile it ended, property prices were advanced adequate that buying them to anyone in the West did not seem peculiarly attractive. For now there is no mass migration of Germans to Poland behind work and bread, due to the fact that although in Poland the standard of surviving is improving rapidly, and in Germany it has remained stagnant for a decade, it is inactive clearly higher. For the next 10-15 years, it will stay so. The Polish right will have small chance to "welcome" Germans with their fists and retaliate for all these historical narratives.
On the anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, a group of Confederate politicians went to Berlin to remind the Germans of the crimes by racami and banner in English. Even rightly, education on the image of business in Poland and another countries of Central and east Europe in Germany continues to limp. What amazes, however, in the attitude of the Polish right is her sympathy for AfD (Confederation sits with AfD even in a common faction of the European Parliament). The Polish right wants to environment the Germans supporting the SPD, the Greens, the Left and the CDU in the tar and feather, but the AfD looks at the friendly eye. Isn't it interesting erstwhile it is clearly supporters of AfD that are either historical unteachables or – worse – they know what crimes Germany committed in Poland, but usually in the planet they justice them positively?
Pure Poland is simply a dream of the Polish right. It is Poland free from immigration preferably everywhere, but above all from immigrants with another than white skin colors and another than Catholic religions (plus Hispanics – they even with bright skin like Leo Messi and appropriate religion are not welcome). Pure Poland is simply a Poland free of cognition about hard themes from the past of its own nation, it is simply a Poland convinced of its nobility, typical of those who have always been either heroes or innocent victims. Pure Poland is simply a Poland free from “German narratives”, which always stand at the origin of all projects of accounting with the little boastful past of Poles. It is besides Poland free from the presence of Germans, but sometimes 1 would be useful to show him where the cancers are wintering.
However, full pure Poland would be Poland, in which only the Polish right would remain. Eventually, all year, I am increasingly convinced that right-wingers dream of voluntary departure or removal of various "invitations" from the country of all who do not share its view of the world. In specified Poland they would feel simply the best, in which they would be the happiest. Then possibly they would not even search the negative emotions that present seem essential to their lives. Or would they find fresh enemies in their own midst?
