The French Emperor became a synonym for low height. But is it right? He was called by his soldiers "Le Petit Caporal" – a small Corporal. However, this was not a mention to his height, but an expression of affection and love for the commander. This nickname came from the time of the Italian run (1796–1797), during which the young commander could not refrain from his individual engagement in artillery operations and, along with the soldiers, exposed himself to enemy fire.
