At the moment, 32 M1A2 tanks are being unloaded in 1 of the Polish ports, said Paweł Bejda, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence. This is the 4th transportation of U.S. cars this year in version M1A2SEPv3. Tanks, before they scope military units, will undergo inspections at Polish Armed Forces Group plants.
The transportation of Abrams tanks was reported by Deputy Minister Paweł Bejda on Monday evening. "The 4th shipment of the newest Abrams. At the moment, 32 M1A2 tanks are unloaded in 1 of the Polish ports. They will yet enter the equipment of the Polish Army, but first they will pass deprocessing in the PGZ plants" – he wrote on the portal X. "Preparations to Mikołajek go full steam" – the Agency of Armed Forces jokingly added.
Today's shipment is simply a realization contract concluded in 2022. For about $4.8 billion, 250 tanks of 26 M88A2 Hercules method safety cars and 17 bridges accompanying M1074 Joint Assault Bridge will be delivered to the Polish Army. Equipment supplies began in January And they're expected to end next year.
M1A2 SEPv3 is the latest version of the American base tank Abrams manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems. Its main weapon is simply a smooth-bore 120-millimeter M256 cannon. Abrams in this version is equipped with an advanced fire control strategy and ancillary weapons in the form of a remote-controlled CROWS weapon module with a 12.7 mm large caliber device weapon and 2 7.62 mm device guns. The Honeywell AGT1500 TIGER turboshaft engine (with a power of 1500 hp) provides the vehicle with good driving performance despite the weight reaching up to 70 t. – M1A2 is said to be the most modern tank in the world.
