What we can learn about the EU's commitment to the war on the drone incidental in Romania.

A drone crashed in Romania on Friday, and the West claims it was a Russian drone. The EU's reactions again confirm my view that the EU has long been a organization to the war on Russia.

Anti-Spiegel 30 May 2026

On Friday, a drone crash in Romania hit the headlines. Romania claims it was a Russian drone and responds decisively. The EU offers Romania support and powerfully criticises Russia.

Why is this incidental another confirmation to me that the EU has long been a organization to the conflict with Russia? To explain this, we request to look at what happened; then everything will become clear.

Incident

On Friday morning, the drone crashed into a home in the east Romanian town of Głacz, close the border with Ukraine and Moldova. Drone fell on the roof of a residential building, causing a fire. 2 people were somewhat injured, and about 70 residents had to leave the building during the firefighting operation.

The Romanian Ministry of Defence's message on the incidental begins with the words: "On the night of the 28th of May, the Russian Federation resumed drone attacks on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine close the river border with Romania". The following part of the message describes the incidental itself, pointing out that the drone was “followed by radar systems all the way to the town of Gałacz in the south”. So he was detected early, but not shot down.

The Romanian Ministry of abroad Affairs stated that the incidental was a "serious and irresponsible escalation from the Russian Federation". Bucharest informed NATO Secretary-General Rutte and "called for action to accelerate the transfer of defence capabilities from drones to Romania".

All reports indicate that it was a Russian drone, but no evidence or photographs of the wreckage of the drone were presented to confirm it.

Romania reaction

The Romanian government reacted immediately, and early in the morning the Prime Minister announced that a gathering of the ultimate Defence Council was held in Bucharest, adding:

"We are presently operating on 3 fronts. The first is the diplomatic front, and this morning we agreed with the Ministry of abroad Affairs démarche, to be presented at the gathering of the ultimate Defence Council to impose sanctions on Russian diplomats in Bucharest."

Soon thereafter, the details of the démarche were revealed. The Romanian Government has decided to close the Russian Consulate General in Constance and to recognise the Consul General as a individual non grata.

What this means

I late published a comprehensive article on the incidents involving drones in the Baltic States in May, where Ukrainian drones almost daily, tens, utilized the Baltic States' airspace to attack targets in Russia. Drones have besides crashed many times in these countries. As citizens affected by an incidental of states know that this means de facto the participation of their countries in the war, bringing with it the hazard of Russian response, increased nervousness.

Consequently, in early May, the Baltic States began to assert with expanding determination that they did not let Ukraine to usage their airspace for attacks on Russia. As part of a demonstration of force, respective isolated Ukrainian drones were even shot down.

In my article, as well as in a fresh broadcast on the Tacheles program, where we discussed the subject in item – I stated that this is only a demonstration to propose to the affected residents that Ukraine does not have approval to usage their airspace for attacks on Russia, while in fact attacks are allowed and nothing is done with them but symbolic gestures.

In the Tacheles, I asked if the Baltic States would respond with the same restraint if the drones in question were Russian and headed for Ukraine, or if the reaction would be more determined. This difference in consequence could uncover whether the Baltic States are actually opposed to utilizing their airspace to attack Russia.

The incidental in Romania gave us an answer due to the fact that the Baltic states could respond to the presence of Ukrainian drones in their airspace with violent protests, the closure of Ukrainian consulates and the expulsion of Ukrainian diplomats. It would besides be possible to block EU financial assistance for Kiev until drone flights are completed. However, the Baltic states have not done anything like that, which shows that they are allowing Ukrainian attacks on Russia utilizing their territory.

The reaction of the Western media besides speaks a lot. The “Der Spiegel” itself devoted 2 articles to the Friday incidental in Romania, while noting the countless incidents involving drones that occurred in the Baltic States in May alone.

Thus the EU's consequence to the incidental in Romania inadvertently shows to what degree EU associate States are already complicit in the war on Russia.

Was it even a Russian drone?

Of course, it is possible that the Russian drone deviated from the course and crashed in Gałacz, lying practically on the border with Ukraine. But there are questions.

The first question mark is that the drone did virtually no harm. He crashed on the roof of a residential building and started a tiny fire. Photographs of Ukrainian drones hitting buildings in Russia look different, showing the effects of the explosion, which origin crucial harm to affected residential blocks. It almost looks like the drone that crashed in the Gałacz did not have a warhead, or alternatively that the fire was caused by the fuel on board.

Another peculiarity is that on Friday there was at least 1 more incidental involving a drone that flew into Romanian airspace, which the media did not mention in their articles about the incidental in Romania. The Romanian press agency Mediafax, citing Reuters, reported another drone that crashed in Romania, but it had no warhead.

This reminds me of the incidents with drones in Poland in September 2025. At the time, about 20 drones from Ukraine flew into Polish airspace, and the media claimed that they were Russian drones. This was impossible, however, due to the fact that Geranium-type drones, which allegedly participated in this incident, simply did not have adequate coverage to scope Poland.

This full case was in fact a Ukrainian provocation in which Russian drones were intercepted were repaired and then sent to Poland. no of the drones had a warhead, but of course the Western media did not pay attention to that, due to the fact that then it would be clear that it could not have been Russian drones.

The Ukrainian authorities want to affect NATO, or at least the EU, in the war against Russia. Therefore, while the planet awaits further Russian retaliatory attacks for the Ukrainian attack on a dormitory in the Luhansk Oblast, Kiev has motive to fabricate reports of alleged incidents involving Russian drones in EU countries.

But as with the incidents involving drones in Poland last September, Western media do not ask critical questions, and erstwhile it turns out that the first reports of Russian drones were false, they will not inform their readers.
