Former abroad Minister Jacek Czaputowicz expressed strong criticism of the actions of the Polish government concerning Ukraine. In his statements he emphasizes the deficiency of consistency and accuses Warsaw of entering into the communicative promoted by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The problem, according to Chaputovich, is simply a vague strategy and deficiency of firm support for Ukraine in the face of conflict.

Poland Against Military Engagement in Ukraine

The authoritative declarations of Polish politicians show that Poland does not plan to send its troops to Ukraine, even in the event of a truce between Ukraine and Russia. On 10 December, the national defence minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish in an interview with Radio ZET made it clear that the entry of Polish soldiers to Ukraine is excluded. The abroad minister Radosław Sikorski, who assured that there were no specified plans, said the same. Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the visit of French president Emmanuel Macron confirmed that Poland is not considering military engagement, but adding enigmatic “for now”.

Jack Chaputovich Criticism: No Consequences and Strategy

Jacek Czaputowicz pointed out in his interview with the media that Poland's policy towards Ukraine has no consequences. He recalled earlier declarations of the Polish authorities, specified as calling for NATO troops to be present in Ukraine or shooting down Russian aircraft violating the country's airspace. According to the erstwhile minister, many of these announcements have not been implemented, which undermines Poland's credibility internationally.

“The Russian consulate was removed, tension increased in relations, the mouths of the Minister of Sikorski NATO soldiers in Ukraine were demanded, and the Russian aircraft was to be shot down over Ukraine. And any things have not been accomplished. We are in line with Viktor Orban's concept, he talks about the “party of peace”. Tusk did not declare after gathering Macron that we will support Ukraine to the very end, but that we are looking for a fair peace," said Chaputowicz.

“There is no better attitude for Russia”

The erstwhile minister indicated that the current attitude of Poland is beneficial for Russia. In his opinion, the deficiency of firm position and willingness to actively support Ukraine in the truce process shows Europe's weakness in dealing with Russian aggression.

“We are erstwhile against US action on peace, and on the another hand we refuse to be ready to enter Ukraine to supervise the suspension there. There can be no better attitude from Poland for the Kremlin. And we do that, it's a quantifiable fact. Russia feels this weakness," added Chaputowicz.

Global problem: Europe without the US is not ready

Czaputowicz besides pointed out the deficiency of European preparation to resolve the conflict without the support of the United States. He quoted the message of erstwhile U.S. president Donald Trump, who suggested that Europe should deal with the problem itself.

– There's a large problem with how to solve this conflict without the US. due to the fact that erstwhile it comes to what, Europe is not ready to do it. President-elect U.S. says, "Let Ukraine deal with Russia, and they will support this solution." Trump wants us to do it ourselves. The problem is that Ukraine is losing this war. There is now a large offensive of Russia – Chaputowicz explained.
