The government of the Canadian state of Ontario – owner of Ontario Power Generation (OPG) – has made a Final Investment Decision (FID) to build the world's first BWRX-300 reactor and the first SMR in the Western world. In the 2030s, identical reactors are to be built in Poland by a subsidiary of Synthos and Orlen.
