Rasp in Prague-Pekin relations. China reacts to the gathering of Petra Pavl
China breaks all ties with Czech president Petr Pavel. As explained, the reason is to meet the spiritual leader of Tibet the Dalai Lama. A fewer days before the announcement of the Reuters decision, he stated that Beijing had "strongly opposed" the visit and called on the Czechs to "observate a commitment to 1 China".
Office of the Czech President reported that Pavel had met with the Dalai Lama in ‘clean private journey’ at the end of his visit to Japan.
The Chinese embassy was outraged by this fact and said, "China calls on the Czech side to respect its political commitment to 1 China, to take immediate and effective measures to destruct bad influences".

Garbage on the Prague-Pekin line. China reacts to the gathering of Petra Pavl
The Czech President's office informed, in an authoritative statement, that the gathering was held at the invitation of the Dalai Lama, who celebrated his 90th birthday. Czech was not accompanied by any individual from his law firm.
"The president took the chance to disengage from the delegation while returning from his visit to Japan to congratulate the Dalai Lama in person," we read. Reuters recalled that the first post-communist Czech president, Vaclav HavelHe was a individual friend of the clergyman.
"Despite our repeated assurances from China's Czech and decisive protest, Czech president Petr Pavel insisted on gathering the Dalai Lama in India. This is simply a serious breach of the political obligations of the Czech authorities towards the Chinese government and undermines the territorial integrity of China. Following the provocative actions of Petra Pavla China has decided not to make contact with it” said Chinese MFA spokesperson LIn Jian.
