The price of trust. From Cambodia to Ukraine.

I late published here a review of the book by prof. Kishore Mahbubani, an experienced Singaporean diplomat. She shares her memories of her diplomatic career, and 1 communicative is peculiarly memorable to me.


I frequently think about it, especially in the context of fresh events – wars in Ukraine and decisions made by global powers, including the current US administration. This communicative is simply a lesson worth considering – not only for our politicians, but besides for us, citizens of smaller countries.


Mahbubani recalls his mission in Cambodia in the 1970s, during the civilian War.


The Khmer Reds fought for power while their opponents received support from the United States. erstwhile the conflict became unwinnable, the US considered further engagement pointless and gradually withdrew.


Their allies, specified as Sisowath Sirik Matak, found themselves in a hard situation.
