Objective of India : Ammunition only from its own armory

Indian defence minister Rajnath Singh reported that now 88% of the ammunition (154 of 175 types of ammunition) needed by India's armed forces is already being supplied by native industry. This is to be the consequence of a ten-year action plan developed by the Ministry of Defence to accomplish full self-sufficiency in this area. This is intended to let “surviving the prolonged war” and to reduce purchasing costs (Indian ammunition is cheaper than foreign).
