
Once again, on social media, there was the thesis that Ukrainian citizens are exempt from road charges on Polish highways. Indeed, due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure introduced a number of transport facilitations, including exemption from road charges. However, on June 1, 2022, the collection of charges for cars with Ukrainian licence plates was restored.

Facilitation of crossings on Polish roads
Cars on Ukrainian registrations can travel free of charge on toll roads in Poland. Additionally, humanitarian transports on Polish roads were exempted from charges in the e-TOLL system. This applies to toll roads, including those administered by commercial operators (...) The facilities can besides be utilized by entities from another countries that organise humanitarian aid operations for Ukraine through Poland.
Restoring road tolls
W official communication Ministry of Infrastructure of 31 May 2022 reads:
As of 1 June 2022, users of vehicles with Ukrainian registration plates, utilizing state and concession toll roads in Poland, will be obliged to pay road charges under the rules of the another road users.
Except for vehicles carrying humanitarian aid for Ukrainian citizens. Regardless of the country of registration, specified vehicles will inactive not gotta pay tolls on toll roads in Poland subject to prior notification.
Summary
The thesis on free passes on toll roads and highways for cars with Ukrainian registrations is false. These charges were reinstated on June 1, 2022.
