Parliamentary elections behind us. The results were rather unexpected, although virtually everyone announced a victory. Law and Justice took first place with a consequence of 35.38% and obtained 194 mandates. It's far besides small to hold the independent majority. On the another hand, there are 3 more formations: the Civic Coalition (30.7%, 157 MPs), the 3rd Road (14.4%, 65 MPs) and the fresh Left (8.61%, 26 MPs). The last mandate was taken by the Confederation with a score of 7.16%, which translated into 18 parliamentary seats.
Immediately after the election, declarations and talks about the formation of the government began. To this day, the Law and Justice Office has been invoking reality and declares that Mateusz Morawiecki will find the majority in specified a shaped parliament. The opposition demands that Andrzej Duda appoint Donald Tusk as Prime Minister in the first constitutional step.
Meanwhile, there are already differences between the various components in the possible coalition – as in the 3 electoral lists, we can number up to a twelve political formations whose programming assumptions are completely different: from the approach to abortion, which divides the Left and the KO from the PSL by economical issues, and the details of the kind of housing credit ending. There are besides ambitions that translate into the distribution of strength in the Presidencies of the Sejm and the Senate.
However, it is not known whether this government and parliament will last 4 years, especially since it will face president Duda, whose veto will not be able to overturn, having besides fewer votes in the Sejm.
In the background of the war for power, there is an interior war in the Confederacy, where the search continues for the guilty mediocre election result. Currently, Janusz Korwin-Mikke was named the main culprit, whose statements in the end of the run were intended to contribute to the consequence well below expectations and polling forecasts. Korwin-Mikke, who did not find himself in the Sejm, threatens to set up a fresh party, and as guilty of the mediocre result of the Confederacy, points to the chief of election staff, Witold Tumanovich. The co-chairs, Krzysztof Bosak and Sławomir Mentzen, were taken in the mouth, while they are eager to talk about the elections behind the strings of Przemysław Wipler, whose statements are an expression of a “central” course, which is unacceptable to the hard electorate of the Confederate.
In the background of the national hell there is simply a real hell in the Gaza Strip. After the Hamas militants attacked Israel on 7 October, Palestinian state forces launched armed action, bombarding an enclave inhabited by 2 million people who were cut off from gas, water, and electricity supplies, and now cannot even get out of the besieged territory. There are dozens of people dying all day, but countries that have previously reacted decisively to Russian aggression against Ukraine now seem completely silent. At the same time, Lebanese Hezbollah and Yemeni Huti joined the fight against Israel. On the another hand, the Israeli political lobby “hawks” has long sought a trial not only with the Palestinians but besides to strike Iran, which threatens global conflict.
