Although NABU did not uncover the name of the suspect, Ukrainian fact informed, citing anonymous sources that it was about Andrij Smirnov.
Smirnow served as Vice-Chief from September 2019 to March 2024, erstwhile president Volodymyr Zelenski called him off for no reason.
According to NABU, Smirnow acquired assets worth over 17 million hryvnia (~426,000 USD) between 2020 and 2020, even though its remuneration and savings during that period were 1.3 million hryvnia (32 500 USD).
He allegedly bought 2 luxury cars, 2 motorcycles, respective parking spaces, an flat in Lviv and a game in the Zakarpackie region. To hide the property, he gave most of his property to his brother. NABU investigators have besides informed of the detection of criminal activity concerning the acquisition of about 2.5 1000 hectares of state land in the Sumi region, while preventing the acquisition of another 3.3 1000 hectares.
According to NABU, the criminal group consisted of the highest members of DerżHeoKadastr, a state geodesy agency, cartography and cataster, and officials overseeing this service. The group was headed by a erstwhile president of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, and presently (since March 2022) the Minister of Agriculture – Mikołaj Solski. His name did not appear in the authoritative release, but Ukrainian journalists established his identity.
The Ukrainian anti-corruption service reported that the prosecutor intends to charge Solski with the illegal takeover of about 2.5 1000 hectares of land worth 291 million hryvnia and attempts to seize another 3.3 1000 hectares worth 190 million hryvnia.
The case concerns the events of 2017, erstwhile the Summary branch of DerżHeoKadastru considered that 2 state-owned companies related to the agricultural academy do not have a documented right to usage 2.5 1000 hectares of land. Officials seized those parcels, which were then handed over to selected persons under the right to free land, mainly veterans of the Donbasa combat, who had a right to 2 hectares per person. These persons allegedly had previously signed lease agreements to private agroholding. Investigators believe that members of the criminal group destroyed papers confirming the right of state enterprises to usage land. Solski was to usage it.
The fishy is besides Markijan Dmytrasevych, the then deputy of Solski, but the prosecution cannot charge him due to the fact that he left abroad in mid-April.
