The ruling Burkina Faso military government informed on Tuesday of the reinstatement of the death punishment in the penal code of that country. It was deleted from the government of this West African country in 2018.
The decision to reconstruct the death punishment was decided unanimously by the People's Legislative Assembly, which acts as Parliament, although its members do not come from the general election. A military government headed by Captain Ibrahim Traore since 2022 announced his intention to reconstruct the death punishment last December.
