On 12 August, Anna Bryłka sent a letter to Finance Minister Andrzej Domański on talks about the transit of Ukrainian grain by Poland. The MEP of the Confederate demands explanations after Ambassador Wasyl Bodnar said that the subject should not be public. Control of the marketplace and prices are at stake for Polish farmers.
Intervention by Ambassador
Anna Bryłka, the Euro MP of the Confederation, requested the Minister Andrzej Domański to inform about talks concerning the transit of cereals from Ukraine through Poland. According to the Politicians, she addressed a letter to the ministry after the Ukrainian side's statements, which propose that the case should be considered at expert level, without public publicity. The deficiency of transparency is the biggest problem here.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasil Bodnar spoke in an interview cited by Ukriformthat the usage of Poland as a transit hub requires professional consideration and should not be put into public discussion for the time being. In the same case, the head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs of Ukraine Andry Sybiha informed about the search for ways to resume exports of agricultural products, hampered by Russian force on the black sea trail.
Polish farmer cannot pay for another people's negotiations
Poland helps Ukraine against Russian aggression, but aid must not mean consent to disrupt its own agricultural market. This account was paid by Polish farmers once. The 2022-2023 grain crisis showed that transit sounds innocent only on paper. In practice, any additional stream of goods requires border control, tight procedures, financial guarantees and clear State responsibility.
The Bryłka raises the question of the fundamental rule of economical sovereignty: who decides on Polish transit corridors and on what conditions? If the talks are conducted quietly, the citizen does not know whether the state is protecting its own interests, or if only after the fact will explain the consequences. The manufacture is asking about government plans
Anxiety is not limited to Confederate politicians. As she stated Agropolska, Polish Association of Grain Producers asked the Minister of Agriculture whether the government is considering expanding the anticipation of transit of cereals and another agricultural products from Ukraine through the territory of Poland. The union warns that the national marketplace is already having adequate problems, and a greater influx of grain, even formally transitable, can deepen it.
It sounds like a regular manufacture magazine, but it's actually an emergency signal. Farmers remember the promise that the merchandise will go on. Relations with Kiev must be based on reciprocity and the Polish reason of the state. In another context, DN has already described the voice that Poland cannot be played in relations with Ukraine. On grain, this rule is even more specific: it concerns income from agricultural families, food safety and trust in the state.
There is no reason for strategical decisions for the Polish village to fall into the shadow of cabinets. The Alliance against Russia does not take Poland's right to defend its own market. Those who do not realize this confuse solidarity with giving up national interest.
