Pro-life doctor convicted of words written on a card
British government prohibits ‘harassment’, ‘terror’ and any ‘approval or disapproval of abortion services’.
The thought of going out on the street with a conversation proposal was born in Livia after a pandemic, erstwhile many people felt the intellectual consequences of the lockdown. In consequence to her proposal for a conversation, many people stopped to talk to her about matters that were crucial to them: students about their studies, parents – about their children.
Livia, believing that all life matters, continued her offer of conversation with anyone in difficulty, including those facing abortion.
Convicted for six words
There were six words on the sign she was holding standing close the abortion clinic: “If you want, you can talk.” Many were eager to talk to Livia. The doctor is convinced that we can all offer a hearing.
Officials of the Council Bournemouth They accused her of violating the ‘buffer zone’. Knowing that she did not commit any wrongdoing, Livia refused to pay the penalty, arguing that she did not violate the conditions of the public safety order and has the right, protected under Article 10 of the Human Rights Act, to offer talks with common consent.
Yet Livia was brought to trial Poole Magistrates Court and found guilty, the court besides ordered her to pay the costs of proceedings of £20,000.
It's not the only case.
"What happened to Livia is simply a serious violation of the fundamental right to freedom of speech. Nobody should be punished for a peaceful proposal to talk to people on a public street. But Livia's case is not an isolated case – it is part of the disturbing and undeniably suppression of freedom of speech in Britain"
– writes ADF International, an organization that supports fundamental freedoms and protects the right to life and to tell the truth.
The organisation shall support the legal protection of the pro-lifer.
“What freedom do we have if peace talks are forbidden? Today, the authorities aim at talking and even silent prayers that they believe are related to abortion. next day it may be any another subject that is contrary to the mainstream, defined and supervised by the ruling.”
