The first authoritative BRICS Olympics were held from 12 to 23 June in Kazan (Russia). More than 4,000 athletes from 90 countries participated, including outside the BRICS group, specified as the UK.

According to the Russian agency Interfax, all BRICS associate countries supported the Russian initiative to make their own cereal exchange, where countries can account in national currency. According to this agency, all BRICS agriculture ministers have welcomed the initiative, and associate States' governments are already starting to implement the project.
Last year's BRICS Summit in Johanesburg agreed that format members would advance the usage of their own currencies in global trade. The heads of central banks and the finance ministers of the BRICS states (now BRICS+) have declared intensive work on specified solutions.
In 2023, 5 BRICS associate countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) produced a full of 1.17 billion tonnes of grain, which accounted for 42% of planet production. The population of these countries consumed 1.1 billion tons of grain, which in turn accounted for 40% of planet consumption. In 2024 these will be larger percentages, due to the admission of fresh members to BRICS (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United arabian Emirates). This year, at the next BRICS summit in October, a further extension of the BRICS is foreseen by 7 further members. The formal will to join the format has already been notified by over 30 Global South countries.
