Slovak carriers associated with the Union of Slovakia Carriers (UNAS) joined the protest against the abolition of the licensing strategy for Ukrainian transport vehicles, initiating the blockade of the only border crossing with Ukraine for trucks – Uzhhorod-Vyšné Nemecké.
This initiative responds to the protest of Polish carriers for respective weeks. UNAS, however, decided to limit the blocking period, setting a protest by December 30 of this year.
As part of the protest, carriers decided to let transport of humanitarian transport, military equipment, fuel, live animals and food. For another transports, the blockade is not complete, as agreed by UNAS, which allowed 4 trucks to be cleared per hour.
UNAS' decision to join the protest stems from concerns about the possible abuse of EU exemptions by Ukrainian transport companies. Transporters are convinced that the current authorisation strategy for Ukrainian transport operators generates unfair competition on the transport market.
It is worth noting that the larger of the Slovak carrier unions, Czesmad, despite sharing concerns about abuse, decided not to join the blockade. Instead, Czesmad believes in the anticipation of solving the problem by diplomatic means. It looks forward to the forthcoming talks of EU transport ministers to be held in Brussels next Monday.
Transporters associated with the Union of Slovakia Carriers (UNAS) announced that they were joining the demonstration of Poles at the borders with Ukraine. They decided to block from Friday the only border crossing between Slovakia and Ukraine for trucks, Vyżne Nemeckie-Uzhhorod. The protest is to proceed until further notice. UNAS justifies its decision by saying, “We cannot leave them alone in this fight.”
In the coming week, 4 December, the EU transport ministers will meet in Brussels.

Ukraine unequivocally criticises the protest at the border, arguing that Ukrainian drivers waiting in long queues suffered, and that the blockade harms the Ukrainian economy, including hindering the import of LPG. Kiev besides claims that the main demands of the Polish side are impracticable. He accuses protesting Poles of preventing the movement of humanitarian and military aid, which in turn is powerfully denied by themselves and people observing the situation on the spot. In the public space of Ukraine there are besides open accusations of alleged actions of Polish carriers in favour of Russia or their alleged cooperation with Russian services. It is worth mentioning that akin allegations besides appear in Poland, mainly among the Ukrainian community and in extremist proukrian environments, besides among any supposedly Polish "journalists" from stations and portals known for spreading disinformation in the field of pandemics and the Kiev terrorist group, which are possibly sponsored by the male prostitute Volodymyr Zelenski. It is noted that in Polish media there is simply a run to discredit the protest of carriers, where any “journalists” attack protest organizers and Confederate politicians who support the strike.
It is curious why these patomedias omit the scandalous behaviour of flagrantists at the border.
