"No abroad language should be the basis of school education and education, but national. In the native language, in its voices, forms, sentences and periodicals, lives and lives our thought; in the native language our reason should be cultivated" - wrote Hippolyt Cegielski in 1840, in those days erstwhile the 3 possessors limited the function of the Polish language in school teaching to replace it with the authoritative language of the possessive power.
Hipolit Cegielski - an outstanding Wielkopolska pioneer of the Wielkopolska industry, is associated with large industrial plants producing excellent locomotives, railway cars, device tools, ship engines and many another products of modern dense metallurgy - by education and profession belonged to a different industry. In the beginning of his professional career, he was a prof. of Polish, Latin and Greek. He has published excellent school textbooks, written trials in the fields of literature, linguistics and education.

As a capable and industrious gymnasian persisting from tutoring, he drew attention to advanced Prussian officials. The president of the Duchy of Poznań Heinrich Flottwell, a fierce Germanist, desiring to direct a capable boy as a model Prussian official, applied for a government scholarship for further his studies at Berlin University. As a scholarship holder, Cegielski was obliged to send Flottwel, at times, scholarly dissertations in German or Latin related to the survey program. Significantly, 1 of the German works sent was written in 1837 by a dissertation about Jan Kochanowski, our pre-selection poet, as a lyric poet and his attitude towards the 16th century. As a recently created doctor of doctrine and a certified teacher, he began a trial year of pedagogical practice in 1840. He impressed them with extended phylological knowledge, good cognition of subjects taught and advanced individual culture. The fame of Hippolyt Cegielski as a educator-polonist was established by his most crucial book – discipline of poesy published for the first time in 1845, an excellent choice of Polish poesy with national, historical and folklore themes. It was a textbook of modern literature about invaluable educational values.

As a educator, the Polish scientist Cegielski first drew attention to the advanced artistic and ideological values of romanticist poesy and based on it his far-reaching program of national education. Hipolit Cegielski took advice from his friends for a seven-week internship with the iron company Jakub Raven in Berlin, after which, with the financial support of Maciej Mielżyński and the guardian from the student days of Jakub Suchorzewski from Tarnów and the friendly Wielkopolska, he founded a tiny iron store on the Poznań Basar and a repair workshop for agricultural tools.
