ZET Radio Investigation
Radio reporters ZET and FRONTSTORY.PL conducted an investigation that led to the uncovering of Daniel Obietek, who had been avoiding the prosecution and the committee of enquiry for weeks. The way led them to Hungary, a 19th-century townhouse located in Andrássy's exclusive avenue.
According to a coverage by Radio ZET journalists, the camera caught 12 minutes later appearing in front of the building a silver Lexus ES 300h. At the same minute the wooden gate opens and for a minute a man appears in the mask, sunglasses and hat. He hops on the back seat of the car, then the vehicle drives away. This is Daniel Obatek himself.
The leased car is registered in Poland, in Warsaw Mokotów. A joint investigation by journalists confirmed that Daniel Obietek uses a luxury flat in 1 of the most exclusive locations in Budapest.

Journalists explained that his own social media activity helped him track down Obiekka. Analyzing the material he has published in fresh weeks, and the material in which he appeared, they have been able to identify the location where any of the content was recorded. It was established that it was an exclusive tenement home in Andrássy Avenue in Budapest, the erstwhile Karsai Palace.
Sometimes they were based on small, seemingly imperceptible details. Journalists pointed to the trees of the Budapest City Park or graffiti on the wall. Both of them showed on their films places which he referred to as being located in Poland, but were yet identified as the capital city of Hungary.
Journalists have devoted quite a few work to compare the interiors presented in the videos of Obietek with photos of apartments available on the home website. They noticed many common elements, specified as slanting in the apartment, a lamp, a distinctive table and a painting on the wall. On the basis of the analysis, it was found that the president of Orlen is in Hungary in a 147 square metres penthouse.
The penthouse in the attic of this peculiar building is estimated at between EUR 1.6 million and EUR 3 million, but it does not belong to Obiek. The authoritative owner of the flat is BBID Ltd – a developer company that turned the building into exclusive apartments. The owners of this company have close links with Viktor Orban's government and business relations with the son-in-law of Hungarian Prime Minister István Tiborcz.
According to the information obtained by Radio ZET journalists, the penthouse, where Obietek is regularly seen, is rented by him. On 1 of the recordings, it was recorded that on 4 June evening in the tenement, where the Obietek flat is located, David Heyj, a close associate of Viktor Orban, enters. However, it is not known whether he visited the president of Orlen or whether he might have entered a completely different apartment.
