The Border defender inspected 3.8 1000 people on the border with Lithuania within 24 hours. Traffic is smooth, although slow. A Ukrainian citizen with a fake driver's licence was detained. The checks were restored on 7 July for 30 days.
During the past 24 hours at the Polish-Lithuanian border, border guards inspected 3.8 1000 people and 1.9 1000 vehicles. This information was provided by the SG on the X platform on Friday.
According to the spokesperson for Border defender Zdanowicz, there are no difficulties at the border with the introduction of inspections. Traffic takes place smoothly, although it is slowed down compared to the period before restoring control.
Stopping with false documents
During the audit, the SG detained a Ukrainian citizen who utilized a false driver's license. A man will be brought to trial for the usage of false documents.
Controls at the border with Lithuania returned on 7 July after the government's decision. For the first 3 days, officers of the Podlaskie Border defender Branch detained 15 migrants, including 2 smugglers.
Cooperation of services and control locations
The control is carried out by the Podlasie Border defender Branch, which implements it in cooperation with the police and the 1st Territorial Defence Brigade of the Podlasie. The inspections are besides attended by the Road Transport Inspectorate and the National taxation Administration.
The border with Lithuania is 104 km long. The checks will be carried out in a full of 13 locations throughout the full dimension of the border.
Border crossing points and control points
Three of the controlled locations are fixed border crossings: road crossings in Budzsko and Gardens and railway crossings in Trakiszki. Checks are carried out 24/7.
The another 10 places are alleged ad hoc control sites where you can cross the border. Last week Prime Minister Donald Tusk informed about the decision to reconstruct border controls with Germany and Lithuania.
As the head of government explained, controls are essential to minimise uncontrolled flows of migrants. The checks are to be in force for 30 days, but the government does not exclude an extension of this period.
