The war in Ukraine has long exposed the limited usefulness of the combat capabilities of the BMP infantry vehicles to overcome water obstacles themselves — features of the erstwhile powerfully promoted, including in Poland. In practice, attempts to cross BMP-1/2/3 through watercourses have repeatedly resulted in their demolition by artillery, anti-tank guided missiles or drones. Nevertheless, both sides of the conflict proceed to exploit this ability, especially in the case of caterpillar BMP-1 and BMP-2. An example is the recording below, documenting the unsuccessful effort to push the river Bench by 2 Russian vehicles, most likely BMP-1/2 or their peculiar variants.
