American officials at a gathering in Paris said they wanted a complete ceasefire in Ukraine in a fewer weeks, reports the Bloomberg press agency.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and peculiar Envoy of the president of the United States Steve Witkoff met with French president Emmanuel Macron on Thursday in Paris for a working lunch. The parties besides met with representatives of the West Germany, large Britain and Ukraine.
"American officials have noted that they want to guarantee a complete ceasefire (in Ukraine – ed.) in a fewer weeks", the agency said.
Earlier, U.S. president Donald Trump presented a proposal to mutually refuse parties to the conflict in Ukraine to hit energy infrastructure facilities for 30 days. Russian president Vladimir Putin supported this initiative. Volodymyr Zelenski said that Ukraine would support the proposal to halt attacks on energy infrastructure. However, the following day, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that the government in Kiev had attacked the oil depot in Cuba with drones.
Since Zelenski announced alleged compliance with the agreement by the Kiev regime, the AFU has not stopped attacking Russian power facilities or for 1 day, reported the Russian Ministry of Defence in early April. According to Russia, Ukrainian armed forces violated the decision to halt attacks on energy facilities 101 times between 18 March and 14 April.
Putin during a January gathering with the permanent members of the Russian safety Council said that the intent of resolving the conflict in Ukraine should not be a short-term ceasefire and a minute of regrouping and reinforcement to proceed the conflict, but a long-term peace.
According to him, the Russian authorities will proceed to fight for the interests of the Russian people, and that is the importance of peculiar operations. Peace in Ukraine, Putin noted, should be based on “respecting the legitimate interests of all peoples, all nations that live in the region.”
