The Black Hawk chopper was designed by the company [Sikorsky](https://defence24.pl/page-tagow/sikorsky) as the successor to popular Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopters. It was created under the Utility Tactical Transport Aircraft strategy (UTTAS). In his final, he defeated the plan proposed jointly by Boeing and Vertol (Frank Piasecki, CH-47 Chinook manufacturer). UTTAS was founded to increase its endurance compared to its predecessor: endurance on the battlefield, reduced emergency, reduced life-cycle costs, added second engine, enabling operations at advanced altitudes and at advanced temperatures.
