Fr Stefan Wincenty Frelichowski arrested in the first days of the war, first time on 11 September 1939, but after a fewer days released and again arrested on 19 October that year. He spent more than 5 years in prisons and camps and only 8 years as a priest. He was imprisoned successively in: Fort VII in Toruń, Nowy Port Gdańsk, Stutthof, Sachsenhausen and in Dachau. In these places he initiated regular prayers, prepared secret Eucharists, confessed, sustained, was with the sick and the dying. At the camp in Dachau, he helped people with typhus

Wicek, as he was frequently called, was given the nickname “funeral” in the seminary, but how to show joy in specified a cruel place as the concentration camp in Dachau? He was able to find the most needy, broken and resigned prisoners, who were frequently willing to take a chance on their lives, throwing themselves on wires under tension.

He died on 23 February 1945 in a camp in Dachau as a consequence of infection with typhus from the sick.
