The military injection of aid to Ukraine is expected to have little impact on the budgets of NATO countries. The Alliance plans to have fresh spending on the Ukrainian army included in the increased defence spending, up to a limit of 5% of GDP on defence. This means that billions of euros allocated to aid to Kiev will be officially recognised as “defence costs” of NATO members.
