US Minister of Finance Scott Bessent met on Monday at the margins of the G20 ministerial summit in Asheville with his Russian counterpart Anton Siluanov.
Bessent was to call on Russia to support Donald Trump's peace plan.
Bessent met with Siluanov after the second plenary session of G20 ministers, both posed for the photograph but did not make statements.
According to Fox Business and NBC News television, Bessent was to press Russia to adopt Donald Trump's peace plan ending the war in Ukraine. The gathering is based on attempts to resurrect peace talks after months of stalemate.
