Increase in excise work and alleged sugar levy

As of 1 January 2026, excise duties on alcoholic products will increase by 15 percent, and as of 1 January 2027 - by 10 percent - reported on Thursday Ministry of Finance.

It added that it was a reaction to "the request to counteract the harmful effects of alcohol on the wellness of Poles".

On the same day, the Ministry announced an increase in the fee on foodstuffs, i.e. the alleged sugar levy, and change the rules for downloading it.

The assumptions of the bill supply that the work to pay the sugar levy is to be transferred from the retailer to the producer, the fee will cover additional products and will be increased, for example for caffeine content from PLN 0,10 to PLN 1.
