Euro-centricity, polocentricity of our perception of the planet causes us to discuss America, Europe, Poland from Friday. And we miss a very crucial part of the modern world, or Asia.
How was Trump and J.D.Vance’s “talk” received in China with Zelenski?
Who was at my cultural differences training, he knows, understands.
The Americans have shown that we cannot talk to them in public. They showed that they were “barbaric.” Public insulting an invited guest, humiliating him, stripping him of his face? It's no shame for a guest. It's a disgrace to the hosts.
China's abroad policy is highly evocative. And this is not the thought of communists, as Polish specialists from China put into your heads. It's a thousand-year-old speciality of power in China. The ritual, the curtain, the show. Invited guests respect each other, in their honor shoots with cannons, arranges passages through the capital, lectures red carpets in Forbidden City, makes spectacular dinners. But you don't talk about the most crucial things on camera. What's crucial is what happens in discretion.
No average East Asian politician will take the hazard of discussing crucial matters in Washington. A politician from East Asia, in the situation of Zelenski, would be finished. Face loss, humiliation.
I have witnessed many “unkind” talks in China. But it's done in a rented room, in an ultra-priced restaurant, where the waiter knocks and waits for approval before entering. What the Americans have done is simply a origin of contempt and disgust in the East Asians.
Me too. But I'm actually Chinese now.
And from childhood (in Poland) I remember that “only the dog that is afraid barks.”
PS: Have you always played hazard Board? What advantages on a regional, global scale does Poland have present that hegemon wants to deal with us, not above us?
