Mr Ryszard Wilk at a press conference in the Sejm, 25 April 2024.
– Despite the fact that so much is presently happening in the world, the European Union is beginning to dig into civilian liberties again. This time we collide again with a regulation on the right to usage cash.
The European Parliament has passed a bill which prohibits citizens from making transactions in cash above EUR 10,000. That means we can't buy a car for cash.. They left a gateway for countries that they could change this limit freely to the lowest amount they want.
It may seem from the looks of it that the problem is that you can't buy a car with cash. But it's just moving the Overton window due to the fact that we do not know to how low the transaction will be limited.
Citizens, in principle, must confess to where they have earned their money by the end of this period anyway, and we see no reason for us to confess to the government for what they are spending their money on. We do not see the request for the government to gather information about where citizens go on holiday, where they heal, what they buy with their money. This is simply a clear step towards breaking citizens' privacy, which they do with their hard-earned money.
The Confederacy has been opposed from the very beginning to limiting trading in cash and will be opposed to the very end.
