The transportation of the first Indian launchers is the consequence of the contract signed in the autumn of 2022 for Armenia to procure 4 batteries (24 Pinaki) of this kind of vehicles, which was the first export agreement of this type. The agreement is intended to let the replacement of previously utilized over 50 russian multi-guided BM-21 Grad systems. This acquisition was co-operated with a tender made 2 years before the signing of the contract for Pinaki in Armenia, which was to let the acquisition of 4 copies of Swathi-type artillery designation radio-location stations. The cost of that acquisition was about $45 million.
