The European Union withdraws from the planned digital service taxation to cover technology giants specified as Apple, reports Politico.
According to an unofficial European Commission document, the fresh EU budget for the period 2028-2035 does not foresee this tax. Instead, 3 another sources of income were offered: a pan-European excise work on tobacco products, a utilized electronic equipment charge and a corporate taxation on companies with turnovers of more than EUR 50 million per year.
The waiver of the digital taxation is linked to EU-US trade negotiations. The European Commission seeks to avoid tensions with Washington and safe the favourable terms of the fresh agreement. The final draft EU budget is to be published on 16 July.
The European Union denies and continues to carry out anti-trust activities against Apple
