Tensions between Ethiopia and Eritrea are so strong that war could break out between them at any moment. Armies are already standing on the border, warned General Tsadkan Gebretensae, erstwhile chief of staff of the Ethiopian armed forces, in a commentary for The Africa Report. He added that the resumption of war would have "catastrophic consequences," and warned that "when the war ends, the geography of the countries as we know them now will not be the same.
