A magnitude 6.7 earthquake was recorded in the Kuril Islands archipelago, part of the Sakhalin region of Russia. As quoted by Reuter, the Russian Emergency Ministry warned against the anticipation of a tsunami. Meanwhile, according to the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the erstwhile earthquake in Kamczatka awakened the Sopka Kluczewska volcano.
