On February 10, 1982, 16-year-old Emil Barchanski along with a group of students of the capital advanced schools poured paint and set fire to Felix Dzierżyński's monument in Warsaw. A fewer months later Barchanski was killed under unexplained circumstances.
[On the day of the assassination Emil managed to escape. Unfortunately, not for long. 3 weeks later, he was detained along with his colleagues in Adam Michnik's private apartment, during the illegal printing of the underground paper “I Will Shout”. - unbreakable.com]

During the martial law, in the era of ubiquitous surveillance of martial law, a group of youths did a feat that enraged the PRL safety apparatus. Sabotage was initiated by Emil Barchanski, who told his colleagues about the past of the 1950s erstwhile their peers painted the hands of a memorial "red Felix" red paint.
Warsaw advanced school students modeled on the methods of conspiracy of the Home Army, on a tiny sabotage of the Scouts of the Grey Series operating during planet War II. They only utilized aliases to communicate with each other, making it easier for them to hide from the safety Service investigation.
– We decided to extend the action to the arson game to make it more spectacular. Each had its own number, was equipped with at least a bottle of gasoline and was designated for its task. Emil was expected to take pictures and be on the place as an observer – said Artur Nieszczerewicz, a associate in the action, in an interview with Polish Radio in 2012. I've prepared 3 Molotov cocktails for me. I threw 1 at a memorial, and I utilized 2 in Corazzi Street to cut off the chase. After Dzierżyński ignited, the full square stood and everyone observed the monument and the site of the event.
The monument was first cast with paint and then with petrol bottles. Everything in front of the residents of the capital returning home and in the vicinity of the safety Service headquarters. The action was sealed by Artur Nieszczerzewic, who set fire to the monument with a Molotov cocktail. Then – camouflaged in a ski mask and armed with a revolver – he went to escape following his colleagues. During the run he was almost captured erstwhile he ran into the mask of a militia car, after which he managed to rotation and happily flee to Barchanski's apartment.
The action was successful: the monument of Dzierżyński burned, but during the escape 1 of the participants, Marek Marciniak, was stopped by the militia. Thanks to the conspiracy rules adopted by the group, he only knew his accomplices' aliases, so the safety Service was incapable to force him to uncover his identity.
