President Andrzej Duda, during a forthcoming visit to the US, plans to propose an increase in defence spending to 3% of GDP by NATO states.
This amendment, besides discussed with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, aims to strengthen the Alliance's readiness and uniformity.
"We meet in a symbolic way to discuss the strategical challenges facing Poland's safety in terms of our presence in NATO. It is an crucial minute to thank those who contributed to the fact that Poland could have become part of the North Atlantic Alliance 25 years ago," said Andrzej Duda, president of Poland.

"I want to propose during our visit to the White House, and I will besides talk about it with our allies and NATO Secretary-General, so that you can jointly decide that the request of the Alliance will be spending not 2 percent, but 3 percent of GDP. To modernise the army, building military resources is simply a fact," Duda added.
