The American army, along with the Lithuanian armed forces and police, conducted an intensive search. On March 26, a military vehicle was found sunk in a reservoir, and its extraction from the bog lasted six days. The operation required the engagement of hundreds of soldiers from the U.S. Armed Forces, Lithuania and Poland, as well as the support of Lithuanian civilian services and agencies.
