Bullhead City (IFP) offered a practical landing site despite its limitations. Prescott Regional (PRC), 127 miles from Laughlin, provides United Express flights, while St. George (SGU), approximately 50 miles closer than Phoenix (PHX) or Ontario (ONT), supports American Eagle services.
These alternatives, however, were less viable given the flight’s proximity and weather constraints.
The choice of Bullhead City (IFP) aligned with safety protocols, leveraging its proximity and operational runway. While not ideal, it avoided riskier options, ensuring passenger and crew safety during the storm.
