American Airlines 3 New Winter Routes

American Airlines (AA), the largest U.S. carrier to Latin America and the Caribbean by seat capacity, is reinforcing its dominance with strategic route additions and frequency increases this winter.

From Chicago O’Hare (ORD), AA will operate new daily service to Mexico City (MEX) beginning October 26, 2025, and to Queretaro (QRO) starting December 18, 2025, for the holiday season.

From Philadelphia (PHL), American will commence a new route to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (SDQ), also beginning December 18, 2025. These additions are part of AA’s broader effort to meet high seasonal demand, with a 10% year-over-year increase in seat capacity across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America.

With over 430 peak daily departures to 97 destinations in the region, American plans to offer 2.3 million round-trip seats from the U.S. during the holiday season — nearly 1 million more than its nearest competitor.

These routes provide travelers with access to Mexico’s cultural capital and the wine-rich region near Queretaro, as well as the historic town of San Miguel de Allende.

Additionally, these flights complement existing international expansions from Chicago, adding to over 20 sun destinations already served by American Airlines from the Windy City.

Enhanced Holiday Service from Philadelphia (PHL)

American Airlines is also growing operations at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Starting December 18, AA will operate daily flights to Santo Domingo (SDQ). This route enhances the city’s Caribbean access and supports AA’s position as the largest carrier at PHL.

American’s holiday flight expansion from PHL includes:

Aruba (AUA) Increased to two daily flights
San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) Increased to three daily flights
St. Maarten (SXM) Increased from one weekly to daily flights
Santo Domingo (SDQ) New daily service beginning Dec 18, 2025

These updates give PHL-based travelers more choices to escape to tropical destinations over the holiday season.

Record Operations from Miami (MIA)

Miami International Airport (MIA) continues to serve as American Airlines’ key gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean. This winter, the hub will reach 415 peak daily departures, including 170 daily departures to 73 destinations in the region.

Between December 18 and January 5, American will increase frequencies on eight high-demand routes:

DestinationService Notes
Dominica (DOM) Increased to two daily flights
Kingston, Jamaica (KIN) Increased to four daily flights
Marsh Harbour, Bahamas (MHH) Increased to three daily flights
North Eleuthera, Bahamas (ELH) Increased to three daily flights
Ocho Rios, Jamaica (OCJ) Increased to two daily flights
San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) Increased to seven daily flights
Santiago, Dominican Republic (STI) Increased to three daily flights
Tortola, British Virgin Islands (EIS) Increased to five daily flights

These service expansions make MIA one of the most connected U.S. gateways to the Caribbean during peak holiday travel.

Tickets for all new routes and expanded flights will be available on aa.com and the American Airlines mobile app beginning July 14, 2025. The airline encourages travelers to plan early for winter holidays as demand remains high across beach and leisure destinations.
