Amber Lionheart 25: NATO preparedness test for deterrence

Soldiers of the North-East Multinational Division Command (WDP-W) completed the Amber Lionheart 25 (AMLI 25) exercise, which was the most crucial training effort of the division this year. The exercise aimed at exchanging experiences, verifying operational concepts and procedures and improving the ability of allied forces to cooperate effectively in crisis situations.

For almost 2 weeks, (8-17 December) soldiers from respective NATO states improved their skills during the Amber Lionheart 25 training in Poland and the Czech Republic. The actions included in the script have gradually evolved from defensive to counterattack operations in the face of hybrid and kinetic threats, with peculiar emphasis on coordination, fast decision-making, flexibility and interoperability. The exercise besides became an chance to exchange experiences and strengthen links in a multinational environment.

The key component of AMLI 25 was the national certification of the Czech 7th Mechanized Brigade. Commander of the Joint Operations Command of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, Lieutenant General Václav Vlček, stressed the brigade's ability to plan and conduct combat operations within the WDP-W structure. Gen. Dyw. Jarosław Górowski, MND-NE commander, appreciated the interoperability and professionalism of the Czech brigade. A successful certification confirms the brigade's willingness to carry out collective defence activities in accordance with Article 5 of the Washington Treaty and underlines the Alliance's determination in the deterrence process and, if necessary, in the confrontation and defeat of possible aggressors.
