Aleksander Ścios - Smolensk ZADUSZKI - from the archive
date:30 October 2011 Editor: Barbara Chojnacka

We remind our readers of the 2011 text. Has anything changed? Have we done everything possible to change?
I have no uncertainty that the people deciding present to destruct the symbols of the memory of the fallen in Smolensk, denying the right to the statues of heroes, hiding the fact about the national tragedy are heirs of the same mentality, which the erstwhile chief of Mokotov prison ordered in the 3rd Republic of Poland to refuse to uncover the burial sites. By denying us the right to honor the memory of the victims, they number on national amnesia and barbaric methods to defend themselves.

SILLIAN RESTANCES

"What would Donald Tusk say if a image of his mother's holy memory and a photograph of his stepfather's holy memory ended up in a dumpster?" ? asked a fewer months ago Jarosław Kaczyński, after the services under the president of Warsaw destroyed the candles and flowers brought by the inhabitants of the capital to celebrate another period of the Smolensk tragedy.

In a message made at the time by the Academic Civic Club. president Lech Kaczyński in Poznań, a group of hundreds of scientists from Poznań universities wrote: "The extinguishing and demonstration of taking them to the landfill along with the complex flowers and images of the dead, ignoring the requests and appeals of the people gathered there, is simply a demonstration of the strength and violation of the eternal right of people to worship their dead. This reminds both the restrictions of Russian invaders during patriotic manifestations in Warsaw precisely 1 100 and 50 years ago, erstwhile they were punished even for wearing mourning, as well as erasure of symbols of underground Poland on the walls of the fighting capital. This besides reminds the behaviour of communist leaders in the years of martial law, who ordered the demolition of crosses, laid by people of flowers and candles to mark the memory of "this large cry from the depth of the millennium", which John Paul II brought to the attention of his fellow countrymen at triumph Square".

People who rise their hand on symbols of memory of the dead do not belong to Western civilization, the more they have no connection with Polishness. Since the worship of the dead is as ancient as the past of mankind, and the violation of the symbolic sphere is always considered barbaric - their behaviour cannot be justified or attributed to any developed culture. Nor is it possible to recognise that the demolition of the memory of Smolensk victims constitutes a single incidental which can be explained by the rules of "political struggle". specified rules are not known to Poles. The behaviours of the current power, so powerfully reminiscent of the actions of the invaders and governors of Moscow ? grow out of the implementation of the same anti-Christian and anti-Polish concept, which in fresh decades aimed at eradicating Poland from the map of Europe.

Therefore, the fight against memory is the most crucial task of the ruling group. This task was already assigned in early 1944, erstwhile the russian army entered the pre-war territory of Poland, bringing along a bunch of renegades called Polish communists. Predicting what will end with this act of "liberation", Andrzej Bobkowski wrote in his "Skice with a feather" on 26 September 1943: "Soon they'll start firing us. And they will set us free for 50 years."

Based on a lie, communism began to "release" us not only from thousands of Polish patriots, murdered in Ubek execution rooms, but started to "release" Poles from historical memory, national tradition and Polish culture. Each successive squad of russian renegades considered the fight against memory to be its subordinate duty, and the forgery of past to be a "state ration". Without breaking the monuments, dropping the crosses and destroying the testimonies of the ancestors ? the power of the occupier could not triumph.

Successors of russian governors organizing the farce of a circular table and replacing the PRL sign on the Polish Republic did not forget the order to destruct memory. Hope to halt this process gave the activity of an independent historical institution. Therefore, the current power from the outset saw the threat of its own interests in the IPN. Memory stimulation and publications exploring the mysteries of the Polish People's Republic of Poland represent a deadly threat to the camp, which, on falsehood and betrayal, built clay statues of "authorities" of IIIRP. For 22 years these "authorities" created a media memory area for idiots, in which reliable historical cognition was replaced by a collection of propaganda rules. past of its own country; cognition of the criminal strategy of communism, of the mechanisms governing the Polish People's Republic, of the betrayal and national disgrace ? is inactive a white card in the consciousness of millions of our countrymen.

Therefore, there is no and will never be a full list of victims of communism in the 3rd Republic: soldiers of the National Army, National Armed Forces, soldiers of the Armed Forces in the West, silent, airmen and sailors, members of the WiN and another post-war independency organizations; victims of the Mokotov executioner, names of hundreds of workers and nameless heroes - all whose only crime was patriotism. Their bones were scattered across the country, hiding bodies under walls and in garbage dumps. Only the imaginary symbol "NN" behind which the Unknown and Unrecognized hides will stay on their ashes - thousands of Poles murdered by "Polish" communists.

The memory of them has been condemned to oblivion, the conviction of those whose crimes remind.

I have no uncertainty that the people deciding present to destruct the symbols of the memory of the fallen in Smolensk, denying the right to the statues of heroes, concealing the fact about the national tragedy ? are heirs of the same mentality that the erstwhile chief of Mokotov prison ordered in the 3rd Republic of Poland to refuse to uncover the burial sites. By denying us the right to honor the memory of the victims, they number on national amnesia and barbaric methods to defend themselves.

I would like the supporters of the present power, its voters and mindless followers, standing in a fewer days above the graves of their loved ones to feel with all power what this inhuman hatred is, which not only has failed the victims to the Smolenian trap, but even after their demolition has not spared the corpse and yet demands the death of memory. Let them feel the pain that accompanies Poles present over the graves of their loved ones.
