Magdalena Rigamonti: Mr President, what does the Polish port on the Black Sea mean in Ukraine?
This is an thought that I first heard from Minister Michał Kołodziejczak. The aim is that as part of the reconstruction program of Ukraine Poland can have its terminal on the Black Sea.
Why?
In order to be able to usage this terminal by exporting Polish cereals, agricultural products and products that will pass through Poland. After the comment of min. Kołodziejczak on this subject there was a large consequence in Ukraine and in the European Union. I can say that the Ukrainian side shows interest. I'm certain it's real. Of course, a concrete task is needed.
W Ukraine is at war.
And I don't think it's gonna end fast. Anyway, the reconstruction of Ukraine must begin. And if Poland wants to participate in various infrastructure projects, it would be a good decision to make specified a Polish terminal in Odessa. I'm waiting for a more detailed project.
You have many political contacts in Ukraine and you are very respected there. I realize he will support the improvement of this idea.
Yeah. I have experience with the reconstruction of Iraq after the war we fought. Many Poland was promised in this case, and later it turned out that first of all Polish companies were not ready, and second, the competition is strong, and third, the Americans are pushing absolutely there. At the time the president was George Bush, and his deputy Dick Cheney coordinated this reconstruction. And he had no sentiment. Most of the contracts were received by American companies and I am afraid that it can be very akin here in Ukraine.
Therefore, we request to operate and build a Polish port on the Black Sea. The more Poland participates in reconstruction of Ukraine, the more serious, better prepared, the more it will be for us and for Ukraine.
The Polish government is sleeping about this?
Nope. I have constant contact with Minister Pawel Kowal and I think he's doing a good job. It is crucial to remember that people at government level can help, coordinate, talk about this with the Ukrainian side, but there must inactive be business, there must be money, funding, banks, due to the fact that these are business projects.
And political.
Only in part political. They must have strong business facilities. I know that this will not be an easy road, due to the fact that political decisions are truly essential for this, and we are besides aware of bureaucracy. However, I would like to see more ideas like this minister Kołodziejczak. I take his thought seriously.
